I'm going to move into a one-bedroom apartment and I want to know in what order I should clean the rooms. Should I start with the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom or the living room ? I know it's better to start cleaning from the top going down so I'll be working on the ceiling first then the walls, windows, then the floor.

I have a frightening thing happening. While I was away this weekend, a friend looked after my house, cats, dog+quail for me.My back garden is fairly secure, but front garden is open to all and sundry - no way of making that any more secure.I have badgers in my garden (I live on the edge of a town) up to 5 of them sometimes.

While I was away my friend told me he was awakened by the badgers banging on the walls (they can access 2 walls) of my bungalow. Then one of the badgers in the front garden hurled itself through the air and shouldered my front window with a very big resounding noise (the window is above waist level and is big).

I didnt really believe him, I thought he may have been half asleep.

Well I was wide awake last night - I hadnt even gone to bed - badgers were in my front garden and one of them propelled himself through the air and shouldered my window. The window reverbrated, I thought it was going to break. Then it did it again and again.

Why?
What can I do?

Everytime it rains, water leaks into my basement. Even though we clean it up, how do I know if there's hidden mold? I sleep there sometimes and it worries me because I've heard of cases where people die from the mold in their homes without even knowing it.

Any advice?

I am refitting my bathroom. It has a 1970's cast iron bath which has to be removed. It is to heavy really and too cumberstand to lift it out and take it down the stairs (which have a sharp turn and tapering treads on the turn.
I am told you can't smash them up with a sledghammer becasue they are too strong and the impacts will send the bath through the adjacent walls.
I am also told if you you cut it in half with an abrasive grinding disk it will create huge clouds of fine black dust everywhere which will go all over the house. Another has said drill holes on bends/curves for cutting it in half, because this will weaken its monocoque shape.
I am a pensioner and am no longer like Tarzan, so what I am looking for is someone who is skilled and has done this 'trick' before to tell me what is the best way forward in this dilemma.

i have some concrete expereicne but am struggling with what woukld be the best way to form a concrete step that is basically a rectangle 3'X6', but on the front of the "rectangle step" , about 6" in on both sides i want to make a "half moon" that protrudes from the rectangle...

the basic idea, a rectangle with a halfmoon on top, the half moon part being the step down....

Anyways, any ideas on a good way to form this single step? i'm also forming a walkway from it...but i'm ok with that :))

Would aoppreciate any help

we moved into our house and discovered that the dirt is mostly rock- I cannot plant anything - on top of this our grass is patchy and gross and our yard is covered in dandelions.

This summer we will be removing all of the rocky soil from our yard and putting in good fill dirt. We are then going to reseed the lawn.
I would like to know what kind of grass seed I should look for-
what will give me a nice green and lush yard, as well as deter any dandelion or other obnoxious weeds from growing - it does not have to prevent them 100 % but as much help squeezing them out as I can get would be great. I have blueberry bushes and an apple tree in my yard so I dont want to have to use chemicals to keep the weeds out or keep the grass healthy. What grass seed should I be looking for??

We would be having a full service move (ie. packing, moving, etc.) It would be nice if one of us could fly in Friday night...pack up, and then leave on Sunday. But it would depend on what days moving companies work. My husband swears they work only on weekdays.

Thanks for the help!

Some limbs were cut on my Austrian Pine to allow for a better view and over time the tree has shrunk considerably. What would cause this? Is it the cutting of the limbs or something else?
