I have two bedside tables that are probably mdf with fake veneer glued to it to make it appear "wood-like". Can I spray paint them white without having to worry about it flaking off? How do I prepare them? I can't sand the veneer ....

Short of taking a gun up to the attic, I have had no luck getting squirrels out of our attic. Previous tenants did not replace a rotting facia board, so no telling how long they have been up there. A friend suggested using a smoke bomb, but have no idea where I could buy one at. I have limited mobility, so climbing up there & chasing them out by hand is not an option

Can anyone give some advice on wall tile grouting.
I have tried various methods. Squeegee, grout float, finger, plastic tool.
Also I find when you wipe down with a sponge or cloth it usually disturbes the grout anyway.

Should I leave it a certain amount of time between putting the grout in and going around with a sponge? But not so long for it to dry?

I also have trouble getting a nice smooth finish to the grout.

The dryer is a year old, and is a maytag. We bought it as a scratch and dent so there is no owner's manual with it .

We're getting ready to move and the place we are moving into has water that smells like sulfer. This is in the santa cruz mountain. We have done research and it seems that this could be caused either by a gas or a bacteria. Does anyone (especially in the santa cruz mountains) have any experience with this? The property management company has said they will take care of it I'm just curious about the process. Thanks a bunch!

We have a water feature in our yard that was installed by the property's previous owners. It consists of a 10x10ft plastic lined pond that is about 1 foot deep, plus a 2.5 foot deep hard plastic shell in the center with a fountain in it. We can't maintain the feature, and are afraid it will become a major algae and mosquito liability. What is the best way to remove the water feature? Should we just fill in the whole area with soil and let the water evaporate from the resulting mud?

We just moved into a historic two story home and the previous owners allowed English Ivy to overtake one chimney. The chimney isn't even visible because the ivy is so thick. It's growing inside our windows, and I'm sure it's going down the chimney from the top. I need a QUICK, CHEAP solution. I've been pulling the ivy off where I can reach but I can't reach any further up without a taller ladder or climbing on the roof. Anyhow, any advice would be much appreciated!!!

Our south facing exterior door sticks more when temps are warm and/or it's wet. After a rain or the deck is powerwashed is when it is worst.

From the inside, I can see that the bottom of the door frame/trim is bowed in - that's where it is sticking. Also, on the outside, the board under the threshold which looks like a 2x4, is loose and appears to be decaying, although I haven't probed it with a screwdriver yet.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, I'd like to fix this problem while I stain the deck, this week.

We have this 1985 creamish / yellowish foe marble (actually plastic) in both of our bathrooms. When looking through a home improvement magazine I saw an advertisement for refinishing countertops. I'd like the countertops to just be white. I'm fairly handy and I'm confident that if I knew how it were done I could do it myself, but I do not know how it is done. Does anyone know how to do this or a link that shows instructions (or at least what is involved)?
