I would like to know the best solution to cleaning the non-stick base of an iron. Mine has been leaving brown burn like marks. I believe I may have ironed something that left a sticky residue that has left a brown mark on the base plate. I do not want to scratch the surface of the iron, so need to know the best way to get the base clean.

(wood mulches, bark, chips, sand, gravel) I don't have any idea how much they cost or how they are for kids (ages 1 and almost 3)

I have a great landlord, but I do occasionally run up against a few idiosyncratic ideas about home maintenance on his part. I need to know if this is one of them.

The caulking around my tub (between the top of the tub and the tile) has a chronic mildew problem, and is actually coming up. He wants to just take it out--he claims the caulking is unnecessary because the flange around the top of the tub, behind the tile, keeps it from leaking.

I'm sure this is not right, but I need a clearly articulated argument of why. He's an older guy who, while very nice, doesn't love being corrected by a girl, so I need to be clear and definitive in order to not be brushed off.

I have a1.5" vertical section of copper pipe leaking between two 90 degree elbows. Can those connections to the elbows be heated and the solder removed, the pipe cleaned, and a new section of pipe soldered to the same elbow connections?

I look forward to your response so I can get the water back on.

About a year ago I received a very large Christmas cactus and it was very full. Gradually many of its limbs have fallen off to about a tenth of what it was. I know nothing about them except to not overwater them and no direct sun light. I was ready to toss it out because I thought it was a goner, but then it actually bloomed the most beautiful bright pink blooms at Christmas. Now the blooms are gone but it still looks in eally sad condition. It has a handfull of very long stems (about 18-20" long) that droop. Anything I can do to liven it up? Is there a way to cut it back and if so will it produce new stems? Instrucitons will be helpful.

I saw the termite "swarmers" coming out of my wall last night, along with some dozen workers.
How long do I have before my house is destroyed or heavily damaged?

We have a new Limestone Rock Border Around our Rose Bushes and The rose bushes are already on a 1 foot raised rock wall. We need to fill in the cracks between the new limestone border and i was pondering what might look better, River rock(free from river, except u pay for it when hauling it up the hill) or red mulch, maybe cedar mulch. thanks

I just moved into a townhome and I have a very small powder room on the main floor. White walls, ceiling, white woodwork, white toilet, white pedestal sink, and a large oval mirror framed in silver over the sink. There is no window so I don't want it to be super dark. The floor is pretty--large squares of porcelain tile in deep green & black--sort of swirled like slate. What can I do to make this room pop? I am willing to paint--can't change the sink or mirror. Any ideas for a picture or wall hanging? My style is tradtional and the living room/dining room are pale gray with a large floral area rug with a navy background. Any help would be appreciated--everyone has such good ideas.
