PLEASE do not use laminate in your kitchen. It cannot be repaired. Tile or natural wood is the only way to go.
Natural wood, you say??? is he insane?
You can sand a natural wood floor and make it look brand new. You should get ten to twelve sandings out of a wood floor (minimum). If you maintain them, they will last ten years between sandings. Thats a long time. And wood never goes out of style.
If you decide to use tile, use a natural stone (Jerusalem stone, travertine or tumbled marble). Like wood, natural stone doesn't go out of style and will never look "dated".
Good luck !

Laminate is terrible around water. No matter how careful you are you are going to spill or splash. The joints swell a bit and NEVER go back. If you want the look of wood get REAL wood. It does expand and contract but doesn't have near the problems with water. Ceramic or real wood no laminate.

Ceramic tile that looks closest to stone.
Laminate wood floors might be beautiful, but they are tough to clean- and which room's floor gets most dirty? The kitchen.

I like both. Both are easy to wipe off. But grout gets dirty and if you drop a dish you break the dish and chip the floor. Wood Laminate still looks like the real thing but might be safer for the floor and your dishes. If you put laminate in the kitchen put it through out. Plus you have to look at what kind of people you're going to market. 3 br house- laminate. Condo- ceramic.

Laminate wood has some advantages over tile, it's warmer on the feet, if you drop a pan it won't crack, there is no grout to clean or seal and it's cheaper to install and prep. However it does scratch and it isn't as clean as tile. You just have to decide which is more important to you.

ceramic tile is best for kitchen because of water may spill or drip laminates does not handle liquids very good you should use ceramic in all wet area kitchens and baths

Pergo, No doubt about it. I've had it with ceramic tiles !! Stupid things break beer bottles when dropped. Definately Laminate wood flooring. At least it has somewhat of a cushiony(?) pad underneath and not hard as a rock (no pun intended).

I love both.
The laminate will be easier to keep clean but the tile looks so beautiful.
You can't go wrong with either.
