I just moved into a townhome and I have a very small powder room on the main floor. White walls, ceiling, white woodwork, white toilet, white pedestal sink, and a large oval mirror framed in silver over the sink. There is no window so I don't want it to be super dark. The floor is pretty--large squares of porcelain tile in deep green & black--sort of swirled like slate. What can I do to make this room pop? I am willing to paint--can't change the sink or mirror. Any ideas for a picture or wall hanging? My style is tradtional and the living room/dining room are pale gray with a large floral area rug with a navy background. Any help would be appreciated--everyone has such good ideas.

I would:
Continue the grey on the upper walls.
I would paint the lower part of the wall a slightly darker shade of the same grey shade. ( chair rail separation)
I would bring in Navy into the room!
eg;
Pictures with navy mattes:
Navy , green and black towels!
Pick one of those three colors for accent colors floor mat, for soap dish, wastebasket, vase, etc!
Good luck!

Seems the best paint color might be a medium green. I personally lean toward sage.
For paintings I would look for a nature scene or a picture taken at night.
Check on-line auction(s) and photography web-sites. I suggested the natural night scene to tie the black in the floor further into the decor.
You can frame shots you take yourself in mahoghany, ebony or another dark wood.
I might even go so far as to paint the woodwork a dark green like forest green to contrast with the walls yet keep the green going (and it hides dust) - lol.
A nice throw rug in green and black might set it off nicely. Also, there are great toilet seats on the market that might work to bring your color together.
One of my favorite things on the market are towels, towels, towels. The designers understand the need to make rooms, even baths pop.
Finally, river rocks are very popular. They can be pretty and inexpensive in a glass bowl.

sounds like it's kind of retro 30's maybe you need to stay with that theme but just add to it by adding a cabinet over the john to match the existing cabinets hang some interesting art that would also add color, stay away from rugs around the john but in front of a sink is OK. You can add accents of color by adding a crown molding also. It's a bathroom so don't get to crazy you don't want people to move in. it's only to be a comfortable visit.

Color Color Color----- bring in a bright color for the walls and then accent the room with another color in the hand towels, a little rug in front of the sink.... etc... You could even hang little wall mantels and put a vase of flowers on it.... or some derorative bathroom stuff.... ot simply hang a nicely framed picture on the wall.... bathrooms are the easiest rooms to spruce up! Have fun and be creative!

Colorful wallpaper with small flowers or some other small pattern. Yellow and/or gold should go with the green tile. I would not put in anything black. The space is too small.
Brightly colored hand towels may help.
Put some colorful accessories on the toilet tank.

I don't think Ive ever gone into a room that an oil painting didn't improve. Maybe a painting of an old ship or ocean view, you know something to soothe you.

Paint all of the walls and ceiling a flat black, then with a pizza roller/cutter paint arcs in all directions in all of the day-glo* colors. Then install a black light.
