i have one of thsoe "pet hairs " dysons and they are very good!

i also have pets, and a 19th old, the best buy i made recently was a bleachable carpet! it's a light brown/ mushroom colour and you cant see any pet hairs, and as it's neutral, it goes with anything. it cost around £9 per metre, not too dear....and has several shades....but i'd avoid light with animals!!

you could cover your sofa for cheaper than buying a new one, so you could choose any colour scheme you like without being restricted to blue.....

maybe a light beige with one mauve wall, or creme with one chocolate brown wall....

Very pale lemon with a dark cream carpet this will give a feeling of space and airiness. I have a dark blue suite. I have wallpaper which is a thick cream stripe and a thick pale blue stripe with gold Fleur De Ly's between the stripes and I have a cream carpet. I have a protective mat at the doors so the carpet doesn't get too dirty and a dyson cleaner. I have a cat and a very messy grandson who is always spilling on the carpet but I manage to keep it clean. just wipe the carpet as soon as theres a mark on it and get one thats been scothguarded.

You can either go opposite on the color wheel if you want a strong contrast (blue's opposite is yellow so a warm butter or tangerine would provide sharp contrast), or use colors next to one another (blue and green, for example) if you want similar hues. The last choice is monochromatic - different shades of blue in different levels of saturation - a light blue couch with deep turquoise pillows, for example.

Try not to picture this like a crayon box - blue and orange and yellow can sound pretty disconcerting if you think primary colors and deep saturation. A denim blue couch and light yellow walls is nice and airy; a more aqua couch with tan or brown walls gives an updated retro look.

If your furniture is in lighter hues, the flooring should typically be darker to make the pieces stand out; similarly, dark furniture shines best against light-colored flooring. With pets, you may want to consider an area rug that incorporates several of the room's colors but can be taken up and cleaned periodically.

it depends on how much light you have in your room light blue is good in a dark room but a cooled cooler pink is warm but girlie for a bloke a creamy yellow colour is good and will go with blue red is to dark the carpet don't go to light it will show every thing and those Dyson's are good but they don't wash the carpet after muddy paws maybe go look at a carpet then chose the colour but paint before you put it down

I suggest a dark blue or a well toned purple with dark blue carpet. But since you have animals might I suggest tile. DO NOT GET A LIGHT COLORED CARPET because you'll regret it.

I would go with a neutral like taupe for the upholstered furniture. Since blue is a cool color, the taupe will warm it up and still be usable if you decide to change the blue walls. Then a beautiful patterned pillow fabric for the sofa with blue, taupe and red or orange as your accent color. Mirror those colors in an area rug that is predominantly the accent color you have chosen. I would use deep chocolate brown wood to contrast with the neutral furniture.

Try not to use more than one or two principal colors in a room, as well as a contrasting or balancing tone. So, having taken a number of things into thought when decorating a room, such as the size of the space, the amount of light, the function if the room, and the style and mood we wish to create, we finally, and most importantly, need to consider the needs of the people who use it.

I was going to say navy carpet, with cream or white cushions but navy might be a nightmare with animal hairs!
How about a beige/light tan carpet with tan, cream and dark blue cushions?
