I am building a house in the tropics and can't get reliable specs for the varying concrete mixtures I will need. Every contractor has a different story. I believe the concrete will be stronger if mixed with sharp gravel aggregate. What is the best mix for: Foundations, large blocks (approx 49cm x 29cm x15cm), mortar, floor fill, steps. The house will be one story but needs to be strong enough in case we decide later to add a story.
Also does anyone know how many blocks of above dimensions i can expect to get out of a 50kg bag of cement (specify mixture)?

If I shut off the gas in my house, and extend a pipe cause I'm moving my range over a few feet, what is the procedure in turning it back on? Websites say to call the gas company in doing this. Why? Who should I call to do the work if I can't?

It will be contemporary cream gloss units with black granite worktop. We definitely want to put a solid wood floor in but aren't sure what colour wood will look best with this combination. Any ideas?

Can clothing with "permanent press" (rubber) writing be bleached?

i have some white t-shirts with "rubbery" writing on them (so these are kind of like rubber letters glued the shirt, not drawn on it in paint) that i accidentaly put in the wash with some colorful clothing & one red sweatshirt bled onto the t-shirts, so now the t-shirts are a gross pinkish color -- i need to know if it is safe to bleach the t-shirts and whether bleaching them will screw up the lettering

thanks!

I am installing new wooden drawer knobs on a dresser. Any other tips on this? The wooden knobs have holes in them already, but they aren't threaded. Does the hole in the dresser drawer need to be the same size as the ones in the knobs? Thanks...

The dimness was not due to poor quality lightbulbs, or too dim of lightbulbs. In addition the problem was not the fixture. I replaced the fixture after it happened and it still continues to happen. Here is the weird part. Once in awhile it will go back to it's normal brightness. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. One time I'll turn it on and it's barely has enough light to light up a room, the next time it is bright enough to light up the universe. Any suggestions / ideas to A. The Problem & B. How to fix it? Thanks in advance...

I'm looking at two tractors for a gardening business:

One is a mid-eighties Murray 18hp, cast iron rear end, comes with scraper, box scraper, turn plow, disk and cultivator (no mower!) and brand new ag rear tires. $750

The other is a mid-nineties Craftsman 19.5hp garden tractor with no attachments (and no sleeve hitch installed), but does have a mowing deck. $600

So with the Craftsman I'd have to invest in a $100 sleeve hitch, plus used plow, disk, cultivator and scraper blade.

Which tractor would you buy given the two?

I have been having a terrible time with gophers damaging both my yard and plants and I'm wondering if turning the leaves of my Oleander plant into the soil might help me get rid of them. I have planted castor beans but can't see that they have deterred them in the least. I have been reading about how toxic the Oleander is and I do have one, so I'm wondering if digging it into the soil might help. I don't want to poison any animals and although I've had this plant for probably 3 yrs. without any incidents, I'm fearful that some cat, dog or child might ingest part of it and from everything I'm reading, it is highly toxic and shouldn't even be touched.
