As already mentioned, there are humane effective traps available. Some are even more effective than snap traps, as they can catch multiple rodents. This being said: There are few sounds as gratifying as the snap of a trap in the middle of the night. It wakes me with a grin, knowing that I just crushed that rodent. What can I say: I am a traditionalist

if you want the rats out of the house buy a rabbit in a hutch outside then they will come out of the house coz they will be interested in the rabbits but provided you have a secure hutch they cant get in to them and while they are out seal up any holes and get a cat i have 4 and i have never had mice or rats. if you decide this is what you want i have a cat who is expecting kittens in about 6 weeks

Make a better mousetrap. Mine's a 20KWatt YAG laser with a doppler auto targetting system. Gets rid of mice rats neighbours dogs kids cars delivery trucks health&safety officials...

you don't even need to get your own cat borrow a friends for a while,
you need to find out where the mice are getting in check damp proof vents aren't broken and around drainage pipes check for any space that a mouse can get in and seal up gaps.
you could set up traps last thing at night but you have to deal with dead mice in the morning ..

Glue traps are the best method to trap rats and mice.

the best way is to get a cat. it will get rid of the mice that are already there and you will not get any more. its the least cruel way.

when we moved in the 4 adjoining houses were infested with mice..but we had 6 cats... within a fortnight the mice had gone...

Try to find where they are getting in to your property and get it sealed, if this cannot be done then a cat or if you don't want a cat use humane traps. Phone citizen advice for other methods I am sure they will help.

if it was me im a big wimp so i would call i n the pest control... i drive a skip lorry and done a job this morning that is full of rats and i was jumping around like a girl so if i was you leave it to the pro's lol

I got a cat, just the smell of the cat keeps them away, the cat doesn't even have to be a hunter.
