I need help with my benjamin, it really looks sad. I know they don't like to be moved, but in the summer we allways put it out in the garden and it did pretty well. Exept since the last time. Now it's lost all it's leafs, the little branches are totally dry, but the bigger one's are still fresh and green inside. What can I do?
Thank for help!

I don't have a ton of money, but I certainly don't have a heart breaking story like those on extreme makeover - home edition. I'd love to have one of those shows (like PBSs 'this old house') redo my house.

How can I make that happen?

On a metal tape measure, what is the little diamond at every 19-1/5 inches used for, and who uses this increment? (I know about the one at every 16" used by carpenters for 16-on-center studs).

I live in the MidAtlantic of the US. In the past, I've grown (or tried to grow) tomatoes, green beans, lettuce, radishes, sugar peas. I've had mixed success - we seem to have a lot of beetles that kill the beans & peas.

i have recently increased the number of radiators on my heating circuit. also have repositioned the hot water pipe from the arga because of an extension. since carrying out this work we seem to have a problem with the heating vent pipe pouring into the header tank. this only occurs when the arga is on its highest tempreture. any ideas please.

We would like to extend our kitchen and bathroom on our bungalow, the extension would be one storey and would not be viewable from any road as our garden backs onto fields with 60ft trees between.

This would increase the house size by about 15%.

Also we would like dormer windows upstairs facing the back garden once again, would that require planning permission?

Any idea of costs for the extension including a nice new kitchen and bathroom?

UK answers only please.

Thank you!

I have a vinyl kitchen floor and once it has been washed I leave the door open to help the floor dry. I use a wooden door wedge to keep the door open, however, I have noticed that the wood from the door wedge has stained the flooring. I have tried everything to remove it and the brown stain remains. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanking you in anticipation.

I live in a basement apartment, and every spring/summer there are grasshoppers and spiders all over. I've tried putting down this poison stuff called larvalure and it helped a little, but it didn't solve the problem. Any ideas?

I just purchased my home & the previous owners have yard lights neatly placed with the land scaping and the wires are neatly buried. My problem is that none of the lights match, its about 4 or 5 styles and only one of the styles I like. How do I change out the lamps with all new ones without ripping out the neatly buried wire completely? Can i just snip the wire at the existing lamp & tie in new ones? How do I know if I got the polarity correct (put my tounge on it)...just kidding! Really all advise is appreciated.

I have found a few sites and stores but nothing so far that I like. Does anyone know of any good places to look or any stores in Missouri that would be good to look at?

Morning all,

We have a 1930's bungalow that seems to require damp proofing, we have wallpaper lifting and the windows have loads of condensation, as well as me having coughs and wheezing whilst at home but no where else!

Could anyone tell me if this is something you could do yourself and be effective or is it better to get the big guns in?

Also does anyone have any idea of the likely cost? I live in Gloucestershire if that helps.

Thanks for any information.
