I would say a lighter shade of wood to offset the black granite worktops. Otherwise it will look too dark. Are you sure you want wood in the kitchen? Ceramic Tile is so much easier to maintain and will last a lifetime, but wood needs maintenance and in a kitchen with spills, lots of traffic, it will lose its luster right away. The reason I am telling you this is that my friend put wood floors in her kitchen and was so sorry she did. Just a thought. But it is your kitchen idea and I should not interfere. Sorry about that. But I hate you to spend all that money and then be disappointed.

because of the fact the recent flooring is maximum no longer quite a hundred% oak, i might stay with the previous flooring. previous flooring is homier and warmer finding. in case you have been to purchase real o.ok.flooring (no longer a laminate), it would fee way better than you're quoting right here. recognize that the fashionable new "wood" flooring that are being offered at the instant do emit a substance which has no longer been shown to be thoroughly secure. do a sprint diagnosis on the internet and you will discover what i'm speaking approximately. previous flooring is quite truthfully worth the fee of having it restored. completely worth it. stable success.

What about walnut? It's not too dark but it may hide some of the marks on the floor. I know light colours are fashionable, but I love oak and walnut - those sort of colours. It may make the kitchen look contemporary as well.

Wood is not a good idea for the kitchen, because it's a high traffic area: water spills, food, utensils, ETC Try ceramic tiles they clean up very easily

I would personally go with a Oak, as it will balance the 2 colour of work tops & units, its also a classic, that wont date your kitchen too quickly

a medium cherry finish on bamboo flooring might be nice. The warmth of the reddish color would be really pretty with cream and gloss black.
