Let me get a little more detailed. I live in North Central IL. Have two Big Maples in my front yard which results in lots of shade good for the heat bad for the plants. These maples also have the type of roots that are above the ground so shade grass is out because i would hit the roots when I mow. Need some help as to what may look nice and not cost a small fortune in landscaping.

We are in the process of renovating our flower beds and looking for something that isn't typically thought of as a landscape edge. We want something that is inexpensive and readily available. Does anyone have an unusual or unique idea?

I did not want to use any pesticide, but I will have no growth with my vegetables if I don't conquer these bugs.

I tried soap and water but they keep coming back.

I have a 9 month old daughter and a dog and don't want to use chemicals. I have been using a mixture of vinegar, rubbing alcohol and water. I use a mop with a microfiber head that I am able to wash in the washing machine. It just seems to me that I'm moving the dirt around because after I've mopped, my white socks still get dirty. UGH!! I've thought about using a swiffer like product but I would prefer to use all natural products and not create more waste. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just ran my dishwasher and when I put the dishes away I noticed that they all smell bad. What is this and what should I do to prevent this from happening in the future? I really can't stand odors, so I rewashed everything by hand and the smell went away, but I don't want to do that everytime. If I wanted to hand wash dishes all of the time I wouldn't have a machine. Please help.

I live in a townhouse and I am on the upper level. Sometimes there is an odor coming from my walls. I can smell it in the washing machine room and there is a small hole inside my bathroom that the smell comes from. It only happens about once a week or once every 2 weeks. What could this be?

Hello everyone
I live in an older farm house style home and I have this nasty crawl space (where mice live) downstairs and I am on a well system. Now that spring has started I have water all over my basement floor that is running through the crawl space and pooling by the sump pump. My landlord is a know and just tells me to get a dehumidifier. Will this really fix it or is he once again just being a lazy ass? It smells like sewage in my house!!!
Thanks
Tess

We purchased our home and the people who put it up never finished the driveway, the house is about 9 years old we've been here for 2 years. Everytime after winter or when it rains our driveway is a big slop, not driveable. We don't really have the money to hire somebody to come fix our driveway. So we have been trying to do it ourselves. My husband suggested to build it up with sand and then put gravel on it. But its knida hard cuz there is water sittin in it (which we have tried to drain out) and it is really muddy the tractor we have just spins and leaves huge trenches. Are we doing the right thing by trying to build it up with sand and then do the gravel, What would work best?

I regularly put down baking soda and vinegar and I have a fantastic drainage catcher to catch big clumps but my apartment's pipes still get clogged. My land lady has said since its an old house that I should just throw down Draino every couple of months but I really don't like that idea (plus it can get expensive) any advice out there from professionals? or someone who has been in this situation before? Can I buy the "snakes" that professional plubers have- and can I ruin anything if used incorrectly? Thanks in advance

I am an administrative professional, but I have always had a powerful urge to design interiors and furniture. I have no formal training in this, but have designed (over the course of 10 years as well as currently) a line of furniture and linens, and I don't know where to introduce them. Can you help?

Our house is on about 1 acre out in the country, and the majority of our land is our front yard! The yard is just a big open space w/ a pine tree that is close to the road and far away from our house. So, we're wanting to make our yard look "eye opening" by either adding a small pond w/ rocks and flowers or by adding a fountain w/ rocks and flowers also! Anyone have personal experiance or just have any really good ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance!!
