What types of bugs? There is a nice website, http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/ that has a lot of nice tips. You can also look up Integrated Pest Management tools (that is the name for not using pesticides unless you have to, and then using them safely). Without knowing what bugs you have, I can't help more, but that should get you started since it sounds like you have the motivation to stay organic!!

Try planting geraniums. That is supposed to keep the bugs away from your food plants. If you want, you can pull up the one plant that gets infested before they move on to the whole row. The bugs, they gotta eat too. Try spraying some hot peperry water on the plants. Try spraying soapy water under the leaves and on the stalk, not on top.

Besides geraniums, bugs also tend to shy away from marigolds. Perhaps try planting these two along the edge of the garden perimeter and see if that helps? It really does depend on what type of bug it is to recommend the most effective treatment.

It would really REALLY help if you could tells us what kind of bugs they are, or at least describe what they look like, and tell us what they are doing and what damage results.
Different bugs need different tactics. If they are hard bodied, soap sprays alone will not affect them.
Ask the question again, with more info, and we can probably give you specific tips.

Organic gardening magazine would tell you. Water, soap, garlic, hot spices.......put it in a water sprayer & spray it on the leaves.

I've heard vinegar and garlic solution (homemade) works. I have not tried this so not sure if it works.
