I have a 9 month old daughter and a dog and don't want to use chemicals. I have been using a mixture of vinegar, rubbing alcohol and water. I use a mop with a microfiber head that I am able to wash in the washing machine. It just seems to me that I'm moving the dirt around because after I've mopped, my white socks still get dirty. UGH!! I've thought about using a swiffer like product but I would prefer to use all natural products and not create more waste. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have Pergo floors too, initially,i bought the pergo floor cleaner until i read the ingrediants. It is basically vinegar and water - So, you are doing everything right. Do you sweep first?
I know this sounds annoying, but, your best bet is to put your dog in another room and get down and scrub with something like a cloth diaper/rag. I have a baby and dog too,so I know how you feel about the chemicals and a dirty floor.
Also there is a site with products and recipes for natural cleaning things....
good luck

I am doing the same thing no alcohol just vinegar and water. Then I follow and mop 1 more time with just pure warm water ring out as much water as you can. Also I clean my mop with a high pressure hose to make sure I have a clean mop to start. When it is warmer outside my mop gets dirty I go clean it out every few minutes with the high pressure hose. I also have resorted to vacuuming pergo to get all dirt up before I ever start. Also Swiffer has chemicals that can cause death to dogs it was a special on the news they walk across floor then lick there paws as all dogs do and it is lethal. I have no dogs but babys and will not have that trapped in my house with us.

I have been using a mix of 1 tablespoon of dishsoap to 20 ounces of water. I spray it on the floor and use the wand from my swiffer with a microfiber cloth attached to it to dry the spray. I have also used window cleaner the same way.

Simple, Just use Baby shampoo for washing your Pergo floors, use about 1/4 cup to half bucket of water, then use White Vinegar to rinse your floors of any residue, use about 1/2 cup of vinegar to your rinse water, they will come out clean and shiny. Good Luck

I always used the swiffer wet jet for my pergo floors. Other than that or what you're doing, there's not much better. Now I use a bissell flip-it which is a vacuum & mop, in one that suctions up the water right away. There's hard floor cleaner for it or wood floor cleaner. That'd be another option for you.
