I am an administrative professional, but I have always had a powerful urge to design interiors and furniture. I have no formal training in this, but have designed (over the course of 10 years as well as currently) a line of furniture and linens, and I don't know where to introduce them. Can you help?

Try opening an online store on Ebay. Lots of audience and low overhead. Other than that, go to your local botique stores and show them a portfolio of items see if they're interested. I know it's old fashioned but, I think that's how that Bobby kid got going. Best of Luck!

I agree with the first person. Start making then selling your work on Ebay. The thing to remember is to take good pictures that demonstrate your work or piece well. If your work is good, you will start acquiring a following. There are also art fairs such as the Broadripple Art Fair here in Indianapolis that many artists travel to. Just because the name implies art doesn't mean it has to be a painting. I've seen everything from mirrors, to furniture, to knick-knacks.

The basic idea is to get your name and products out there. If they are good. You will get a following. Remember, keep where you go consistent. If you start to get a following the people that like your work will look for you to be there, same place, same spot, next year. A business card does wonders too, especially if it has a link to a website with photos of your work.

Your followers are the people that will make you. That is the way many large companies started. Just ask the founders of Banana Republic. They started out selling overstocks of military clothing. They became popular enough with their followers that after several years people were writing them from all over the country asking for their products. Not long afterwards they became a major clothing retail chain.
