I live next to a canal and there is a lot of bugs around my house, its not a big deal but its like they wait for me to open my front door or the door to the garage to come in. Now I have a lot of bugs by the garage opener lights. About 20 of them just living there what can I do to prevent this in the future or eliminate them from there without trying to kill them 1 by 1? I will be here all night trying to kill them. Please let me know.

I live in Ellensburg, Washington and my landlord refuses to help us get our electric (non-battery) smoke detector fixed. It has been going off intermitantly for weeks. Our ceilings are about 20ft high, so there's no chance of us working on it ourselves. I need to know who to contact to 1) get my landlord in trouble for not doing his job and 2) to fix the darn thing so we're safe at night. I don't know the manufacturer or anything about the smoke detectors because my landlord won't share this information with us. Moving out is not an option. Thanks!

My mom bought me a nice XL cotton sweater for me even though I'm a size medium. I decided to just wash it normally to shrink it but it shrank just a tad more than I had hoped. Tugging on the sweater to stretch it has helped a little, but the back of the sweater occasionally rides above the pantline and I was wondering if there was a simple way to stretch it an extra inch or two?

I am very worried about the tile. It seems that in every restraunt, friends house, or anyplace with ceramic tile, it has this shiny gloss to it and never stains. Is this just the tile? Because the grout in my kitchen and bathroom has stained in a couple of places. But at these other places, ie restraunt bathrooms, I have looked and there is no staining at all. Im also scared to mop the floor and end up staining the grout (I have been here a year and have never mopped). Help!! What do I do, and if i need sealer, how do I put it on??? Thanks!!!!

I need to know this as I have had a kitchen fitted at 910 mm and now my cooker isn't flush with the worktop. Fitter said he always fits them at this height. Also there is a 150mm gap between the top of the plinth and the bottom of the cupboard.

I bought an old house for a rental and all the basement windows are removed and covered. Do I have to have any operating basement windows by law? Is there any difference if I plan to rent it out. It's an unfinished basement so there is nothing down there besides washer and dryer area.

I've learned that washing colors in warm water is generally a bad idea. But if the tag on a colored shirt says use warm water, should I? I don't want it to fade though.

I have to make a 3ft centerpiece for a table for our churchs auction. the theme is "a world of pure imagination" willy wonka style and I am looking for suggestions. They would like it more elaborate versus a bunch of candies glued on sticks for they will auction it off and would like one to be able to utilize it. I dont know how many people have a candy theme going on in their homes, so that is why I would like to incorporate mabye like a golden ticket and some candies but need help with the elaborate part of it. Thanks in advance....
