I am thinking on getting a cleaner for up to 2 hours a week in Farnborough. Where should I go to find one (approach a big company or put an ad in the local Post Office)? What questions should I ask? How much should I expect to pay?

I want to get rid of the nasty grass in my back yard and heard that spreading salt in the dirt will prevent anything from growing in that area again. I just want to make sure it's true before I dig everything up by the roots and waste my time.

Ive got an old cinder block garage that has a flat cement roof.
It has a few cracks, that causes water to leak thru and inside.
I want to patch it with something to keep the water from seeping thru.
Is there something like a hot-tar alternative that DIYers can do?
Like maybe a sealer of some sort that I can brush on?

Its only a temporary fix maybe 1-2 years until I can get a real garage built.

My wife wants to do that because our 18 month old daughter sometimes falls out of bed. Having the bed lower would tend to decrease the impact.

We have other family members that say it doesn't look good if there is no frame and the mattress is on the floor. Is there anything wrong with that besides not looking formal?

i really liked the chrome car in the tv ads a few years back, and ive always lieked sparkling silver surfaces...
how would i be able to make a car like this?
could i weld lots of small circular pieces of silvery metal the size of a 5 pence piece all over a car?
what im thinking s that if i do that rather than have one smooth mirror surface, it would break up the relections rather like the compound eye of an insects eye.
if i had some icy blue pieces as well, i could have a silver&blue car that would make the icebergs weep!

anyone have any altenative ideas how i could have my chrome/silver car

Hi every1 & Happy New Yr 2 u all! I've just started to recycle, but I'm unsure of a few things, in our area they collect different coloured bags of plastic bottles/aluminium tins/cards& mags. But they don't allow things like plastic food wrappers, so where would I put this sort of plastic? And anything else that they don't allow, do just throw it away with the normal junk, but it's plastic too? It's all so confusing! x

My deck really needs some attention - the snow and rain are not beading up the way it used to and it's absorbing into the wood.
What do you think?

In regards to concrete, are these two words interchangeable? I have found information on efflorescence pertaining to concrete, but the manager at the concrete company is using the word effervescence. Is he mistaken in his terminology or does it matter?

How many cubic feet? and is that with or without the agitator? Also...how big of a dryer would I need to dry it? We are looking in to getting a new washer and dryer and if we can afford it I would love to have one I could wash my king size comforter in, I just don't know how big that is when I am looking.

I just moved to this house and it has a wood burning stove. I've never had one before. When i have it going, there is a strong campfire smell. I have the vents open and everything. it even makes my clothes have that camp fire odor. Should it smell that strong or is there something wrong?

I've already pointed it out to him along with his bramble bush that ruined the pebble dash on the front of our house. He's done nothing about it and with the bad weather here, the rain from his gutter is pouring on to our front step.... it also keeps us awake at night and really, how many times do you have to speak to someone about this kind of thing. If it was the other way around, we'd have sorted it by now. We stay in bought houses, not council rented ones, otherwise I would have been able to complain to them at least.
