Grey is a neutral color, and pretty much goes with everything. I have light grey carpeting in my bedroom, and the color that I have chosen for the walls are a light, buttery yellow which makes the room cheerful. My furniture has a light but warm cherry stain and really compliments the coolness of the grey color of the carpet.

I have 3 large floor to ceiling windows, and I bought very nice, but inexpensive white cloth shades from Walmart that can be detached and washed, which is important to me because dust and mites build up in fabric and I hate dry cleaning. I had a hard time finding these, as I knew exactly what I wanted and around that time Walmart brought these out as a new product. I have also chosen twin size white cotton sheets which my mom has sewn to make into curtains. This was a very economical choice, as curtains are so expensive and I love the way cotton drapes. I look at decorating magazines and I like the look of curtains that puddle on the floor, so I did not have to have my mom hem them because I wanted to have that effect. The reason that I chose white is because the house I grew up in as a teenager was dark and had small windows. Another house that I owned had more windows, but it was still somewhat dark because of the window coverings that I chose. I get depressed when it's dark and gloomy, so I wanted a light color to let the sunlight come through, and these work beautifully!

On my bed, I bought a pretty white matelaise coverlet, and I have sage green sheets. I bought two toss pillows; one from Target that is cotton and is sage green in color with golden yellow embroidery in a paisley pattern on it. The second one I bought from Walmart and it has a satin look to the fabric, which is a light steel blue color with pearls on the front.

A good thing to keep in mind is to have a balance of warm and cool colors. For instance, I have a cool color (light grey) for the carpet; on the walls I chose a warm color (light buttery yellow). Pick one main color that has no pattern or a subtle pattern and that goes with everything for your bed or sofa covering; then have a few secondary colors for accessories like your pillows, candles, vases, etc. that you can switch out when you feel like.

I used to prefer dark, heavy jewel colors such as dark greens, reds, purples and blues. As I have matured, these colors in large amounts seem too oppressive to me. I now prefer lighter shades of blue, sage green, grey, browns, tans and yellows - very natural, earthy, neutral colors - colors found in nature. I still like to have small touches of dark blue, dark sage green, and deep red. I don't have any purple or lavender or pink, except in a few small floral arrangements, paintings and prints.

Well, the first thing I would need to know is what image you are trying to put forth. If you can only paint the walls gray, then there are TONS of things you can do with the furnishings.

I am also assuming you are male...

If it is your bedroom, try using some dark red and silver colors in the bedding, or if you prefer, a combo of steel blue and a vibrant blue.

If it is the kitchen, get some hand towels and oven mitts that already have some gray in them, with other colors you like.

Another way to experiment with color, is to get a box of 64 crayons or colored pencils. Get out some paper and start by making a big swath of gray. then scribble some other colors next to it to see if you like it. Remember that all colors will look different when next to another color. Your favorite red may look more orange or more purple depending on the neighboring color.

Walk around a fabric or wallpaper store and find some patterns that you like. Use those colors in accessories.

My favorite colors next to gray are black and a deep crimson with a hint of nickel or brushed silver as accents.

My room is the same. What I actually ended up with is a lot of stone figurines. Also the colors black and purple look really good against the grey. Try not to put a lot of really bright colors in because they clash. I also put up some really light curtians that not only flow nice but still allow a lot of light to filter in.

depends on the shape of the room . the space there are . and floor color . amount of lighting there is . i would put some pastel colors furnitures , since grey is more of under white for me . pick beige , creamy , light blue , light red not pink .. and nothing too funky or shining . should be something more soft and cosy feeling . it would be nice if the furnitures were mainly made of glass or steel . i hope u get the pic ;)

I think a moroccan style room looks very nice with gray. The marroon and gold colors off set the gray and create a warm exotic feeling. Try adding sconces to the wall as well. If the whole room is gray, maybe paint a marroon stripe down one of the walls or depending on how large the room is, paint one wall marroon while leaving the rest gray.
