I recently moved into my house and i have wood kitchen cabinets that were painted white. I believe they were originally oak. I would really like to paint them with a dark wood faux finish - to look similar to my cherry wood furniture. I just don't know if this is even possible! I have a little experince painting - but i've never done a faux finish before. If anyone has experince with this could they please tell me how this should be done - or if i should even attempt it at all! thanks!

It may be bakelite but I am not sure yet. Just do not want to ruin the plastic finish with a stripper that is too strong. It has a layer of white paint and a layer of brown paint. It is dated 1940 from Dart Indiana.

when they replaced a medicine cabinet in bathroom, they disconnected the only plug in bathroom and said they are not rehooking up as they have to do additional work to meet new safety codes. Use an extension cord they told 250 units in subsidized housing. Is this a legal safety violation..

What about newly chipped tiles in entry way that one might trip on?

1. After remodeling, they broke several tiles in entry way that are now chipped off by entry door and one could trip ion them (they are not replacing tile they said)

2. after installing medicine cabinet, the only plug in the bathroom (on meidicine cabinet) no longer works and they are not fixing it, saying use an extension cord. They claim can't rehook up wires (it worked before with old medicine cabinet) as it is within two feet of water. (so was old one). This is in all 250 units. They said to be approved under new guidelines, they can't do as apparently have to do addtional work and they are too cheap apparently. Is this a safety concern that I have any legal right to have? (a plug in bathroom? Who would know if this is a safety code violation?

because it got overheated with nothing in it. Is there any safe way to re-attach it? The pot would still be good otherwise.

when I moved to this apartment, it took five flushes to flush toilet completely. Plus it was so slow to fill tank with water, it took 1/2 hour when done to get out of the bathroom naerly. Very frustrating. First they tried to say it was a water saving toilet and that is why. Then maintanance guy Mike said the pipes were clogged (when I moved here entire bottom was brown--worse I ever saw but they were too cheap to replace it. Took 7 hours of hand scrubbing with a pumice stone to clean it..raised up a lot of sediment and maybe this clogged pippes more????

He said solution was to flush toilet with muriatic acid and did and got it working to 2 flushes and speeded up water flow. He said it needed flushed again but was out of muriatic aci]d and needed to reorder it..though I asked 4 times, he always said it was not in yet.

They just replaced toilets in all units and it still is taking 2 flushes. I asked that they reflush it with muriatic acid. New maintanence guy Gary said

I have a FL grow light 2" from the tops. and foil surrounding the area dull side out to deflect it. I have also (since they are no more than an inch or 2 below soil) have dug arround the seedling and lowered it into the the soil and coverd the stem 1" from the bottom of the first foliage, hopefully aerating the soil (may have been too compacted not allowing for O2 flow) and lowering the sprout deeper into the soil. If this IS a light problem is it because I have the WRONG light?

do you have to lower the water pump off of the drive shaft that sits below the motor? it appears i do but maybe there is a better way. The belt isn't broke but cracked bad and slips when the load is heavy.

I am thinking to ship Purple Orchid to my friend from GA to CA. I am thinking to put in a box, lined with packing peanuts, layer of purple cloth, then put water bag on the Orchid stems, and loosely wrap the orchid with the typical plastic flower wrap. Then place the orchid inside the purple cloth lining. And ship it overnight USPS Express. Is this possible?

We have our address painted on the curb on both sides of the driveway. I was thinking about repainting it but that reflective paint is expensive. They have reflective stickers. But as I was walking my dog today, I noticed all the mailboxes with adhesive stickers were Black metal or plastic boxes. What can I stick on my brick box, which has a rougher finish, that will stay / not come off in the rain?
