We recently purchased a Kenmore 70 pint. It was so noisy! It was placed in the basement on a concrete floor. We recently had a lightning strike and the surge took out the dehumidifer. Now we have to replace it and I want something more quiet.

Hi All - I turned my dishwasher on and it was running for a couple of minutes and then just stopped. Now it won't start up again. Has anyone had this happen? How do it fix it without calling for repair?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Are there security devices or cameras that you could put in front of your home, that don't look like security cameras, and could they get pictures at night? Reason being we've had 2 cars stolen from our home, and a huge potted cactus taken from our front porch.
Are these systems expensive?

I paid thousands $$. Here are my issues.
1. the 1/8" to 1/4" (it varies!!) of caulk between the countertop slabs, backsplash pieces. Totally ruin the look! In the showroom the seams were difficult to see..
2. I thought granite is a durable material. Yet he said to never put a lot of weight on the front of the sink area or lean on it & that granite is naturally weaked by fissures!
3. I can see & feel a crack At the back of the undermount st. steel sink & 2 spots, 1" diameter, are "rough" and dull.
4. one back corner of the counter is higher than the front & is NOT level at all. I checked with a level and the bubble is all the way up.
5. They took a door frame loose where it was in the way of the counter's edge & left it hanging there...they never mentioned it at all!
6. Tops edges of backsplash is not a shiny as rest
7. There is a 1/4" chunk out of one front corner

Traditionally, to overlay floorboards I am aware 12mm plywood was used: would anyone recomend using 12mm chipboard or 12mm mdf. [Are there any health issues using mdf] Price is my concern, ply working out at double the price of mdf and mdf being double the price of chipboard. Advice appreciated. [anyone know of Tyneside outlets [UK] that sell cheap ply or websites?] THANKS.

I am turning a long closet into an office with a long workspace along one of the walls. To do this, I will be cutting a piece of plywood to size and using a filing cabinet on each side for legs. I would like to decoupage the desktop using attractive wrapping paper to cover the entire surface. I was able to find this reference to decoupaging a counter top: http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/hk_faucets_fixtures/article/0,2037,DIY_13943_2276280,00.html

But I want to make sure this method will work for me. Can I just use Elmer's or wood glue to fasten the wrapping paper before applying the epoxy? Is there a difference between the self leveling expoxy mentioned here and standard decoupage goop from the craft store? Will using wrapping paper pose any special challenges (since it will probably be one long piece instead of little ones)? Does the plywood need to be primed first? Will I need to apply some sort of varnish?

So many questions! I would really appreciate your help!

I bought just the top part of a sleep number bed and I want to avoid buying the $400 base that Select Comfort sells. I want to get a head board/foot board, but they all seem to come with slats as a foundation for a box spring. Has anyone had luck putting a sleep number bed on a slat base?

I know that they will "chirp" when the battery gets weak, and I have changed the batteries recently. But this is not a chirping noise; it is as if there is smoke in the house and the alarm is going off.
