Do you clean the house and THEN pull out everything from the cupboards, closets, drawers and organize. OR do you pull everything out of drawers, closets, etc., throw out what you don't want and reorganize things and THEN clean the house, i.e. pick up toys, put clothes away, clean the bathroom etc...?

I have an 8 year old son and I think it is about time that he start doing chores around the house and start contributing to the household. He has a 4 yr old brother and doesn't think it's fair that he has to do everything, whenever I ask him to do anything. He also acts like he can't comprehend simple tasks like cleaning a room and putting things back where they belong. The only thing that he does right now is help me bring groceries in and take out the trash. I don't want to wait until it's too late where he is just a lazy kid but I do need some advice on how to get the process moving?

I recently found at an auction a Sunbeam Coffeemaster vacuum coffee pot but the top and bottoms are stuck together. My dilemma is I cannot get them apart, does any one have experience with one of these coffee makers and getting them apart? I have some idea how it operates and I know they are supposed to make the best coffee but you cannot find them anymore. Also if anyone knows where to get gaskets . Thanks so much.

How do I keep ants AWAY from my desk??
Today in the afternoon around 4:00,
there were ants in my desk!!
EWW!!
It never happened to me before...!!
Even if I didn't and my desk was neat/organized,
is there a way to keep ants from coming in my desk??
(I don't keep food/drinks/sweets in my room.)
How would I keep the ants away like, a fastest way to keep them out??
PLEASE!!
I use windex to clear the ants,
water (but not the cleanest way..), and I get a papertowl to swipe them off?
What can I do to keep my desk/room ant free??

We have cocoa shell mulch in our front garden and there are gnats (or some other very tiny insect) all over the windows near the garden. I am trying to identify the source so that I can get rid of the insects. Thanks!

My apartment door opens directly into my dining room. There is no vestibule. And that is the problem. There is no sense of transition from the outside apartment hallway and the interior of my apartment. How can I make this door less glaring? The door is in the corner of the room. I was thinking of perhaps wall-hangings or large plants? What about placing something very eye-catching by the door (like a large vase) to distract the eye from the door? I am also considering a room divider or privacy screen . . . but the problem is that the room itself is not all that large, about 17' X 15', and I fear screens or room dividers would dwarf the room itself. The walls are mostly off-white and so is the door color. This door is so "intrusive" it's driving me crazy. Please help. Thanks.

Our front porch is a little stained from rainfall and I'd like to clean it. What can I use that won't kill the sunflowers that are growing in the flower bed below the porch?

I need some ideas for some privacy only on 2 sides of my pool or at the existing chain link fencing for my backyard. The far back my yard backs up to woods and the front part is my house. I can't afford a privacy fence at the moment so any other ideas would help. Between my family and my kids friends, our pool gets alot of use.
