I am growing banana peppers - why are there dark marks on them?

sometimes they will have dark ...purplish marks on them this is fine if the pepper itself is not ...."mushy"

maybe its where the sun dried it a little in a spot! i went to look at mine and they dony have spots on them.but sometimes my jalepenos get dark spota and i think that its just from getting sun in one spot for too long!i think yours will be ok!it might also be where the water hits them too!
