I have horrible sunburn...my whole back, shoulders, and arms are beat red, i cant even baend over without it hurting, i put on sunscreen, but i guess it wasn't enough...do you know anythin ( besides aloe ) to help soothe or make it heal faster?

I am spending five points to make this statement, and I will never again address sunburn!! Due to increases in greenhouse gasses, the radiation we recieve from the sun is magnified, much like a magnifying glass will condense the sun's rays to the point of starting a fire. People who never in the past burned are burning now. USE SUNSCREEN, limit the time you spend in the sun. Deaths from skin cancers called Melanoma are at an all time high and are climbing. The damage you do to your skin in your youth, will result in cancer when you are an adult. Protect your children, protect yourselves or pay the bloody fatal consequences!!!!!

i'm 16 and have thin hair. i have always for years being tieing my hair up in a tight ponytail. a few days ago i noticed i was developeing a bald patch. do u think that has got to do with tieing my hair in the tight ponytail?

also yesterday i washed my hair, my mam cut the ends cos they were uneven. when i dryed it, it felt lovely and full. i then was out in the wind a few times for a few seconds. when i came home my hair felt and looks alot thiner dan normal.

do u think it has something to do with the bald patch or has the wind just taken the volume out?

will the lost hair grow back. i always use this shampoo for volume that made my hair a small bit thicker. will that kind of shampoo help??

This would be given to girls aged 12 to 13 in three doses over six months at a cost of £300 a course. The vaccine would help prevent cervical cancer as it protects against the STD, Human Pappillomavirus infection HPV which causes most cases of cervical cancer. The Government have agreed to it in principle but they have to review the costs to the NHS. Personally I think this jab can only be a good thing as so many women die of cervical cancer in this country (over 1000 a year) and if it helps to prevent it then that's great. The innoculations may start in Autumn 2008 and will not be compulsory. The Cervical Smear testing programme will continue as this jab won't protect against all strains of the HPV infection. There are HPV vaccines available now in the UK but haven't been approved for use by the Government. Some people apparently are worried this jab will increase promiscuity in young girls as it's given before they become sexually active. What do you think about this vaccination?

I see on the internet that some doctors are against having tonsils removed whereas some say it makes no difference, do they have a use and what are the negatives for them no longer being there. Mine are quite large and I think they give me bad breath because of being infected and swollen alot, do they really make a difference?
Also someone told me tonsilitis is contageous, but I didn't think infections could be passed on, so is there truth in that as well?

it doesnt matter how tired i am, it always takes me hours to fall asleep.. i dont drink soda or anything with cafeine after dinner which is around 6pm. i've tryed listening to music (the relaxing kind with water sounds and stuff like that) but i find myself thinking louder than the music is playing. when i try to go to sleep my mind is EVERYWHERE like suddenly i'll think about something soo stupid like "i wonder what a capybara looks like"(i've never actually thought about that but its just an example) and then i'll just keep thinking about it and it will bother me so much until i get on the computer and look it up. i usally lay down and try to go to sleep around 11pm or midnight but i dont fall asleep until 4am or 5am. i tell my mom about it all the time (im 14 and a girl if that helps with anything) but my mom tells me that its just because i have to much stuff on my mind. but i've tryed reading a book like my mom suggested and she bought me a relaxing cd but nothing will work...how can i fall asleep?

Hi,
I am 24 y/o with 4 young sons. I started smoking off and on from age 14. I quit during all of my pregnancies b/c it made me sick. I also did not smoke during the time that I breastfed. Last December, I quit smoking again, only to start back up about 3 mos ago. This time, I am smoking about a pack and a half a day, and I am finding it VERY hard to stop. My husband smokes as well, so even if I go all day without a cigarrette, I smoke as soon as he gets home. We do not smoke around our kids, but the older boys see us outside, and it breaks my heart to know that they know what we are doing is bad for us. I stay home 6 days a weeks with my children, so stress is a big issue for me. Has anyone here had success in quitting smoking, and what are some tips?
Thanks all.

Okay, here's the thing:I'm 17 years old and for the past two-three years I've been listening to loud music.Last November I got an mp3 and the volume went even higher, but of course for little amounts of time. Many times my ears ringed after I turned off the music for short amounts of time again. But last Saturday night I felt my left ear kind of "heavy"and I noticed that when I close the other one I can hear a very faint buzzing sound and I also think that I don't hear as well as with the other ear. Also, when I yawn or shallow I hear noise only from the "good"ear, like the other isn't connected anymore.I had this feeling all Sunday and then it went away.I listened to music again(not very loud)and I had no problem. But tonight I listened to loud music for like 20 minutes and that feeling is back!Am I going deaf? Can I fix this?I'm only 17,isn't it early for hearing damage?

I don't normally smoke, but roughly once a year or so I keep in practice by buying a packet of twenty cigarettes and smoke them, in order that I won't find them too offensive should I ever find they are a necessary part of life.

I know smoking in general is considered by most people to be detrimetntal to health, but is a single packet once a year harmful so as to "keep in practice" my ability to smoke?

Twenty cigarettes a year can't do any harm surely, and it does mean I'm fully prepared should smoking be found to be benefical to health.
