You can ice it, take Arnica, and elevate it, but some people are more prone to bruising than others. Sometimes bruising is due to lack of potassium, so you can try to each postassium-rich foods (in the event that you are getting IVs frequently). Otherwise, it's just a symptom of your skin's reaction to it being punctured and your vein being entranced.

If it's less than 2 days from the IV insertion, apply ice in plastic, covered with a paper towel or thin cloth. Bruises continue to develop and swell for 48 hours.
If more than 48 hours, apply heat - put a very warm washcloth in plastic, and wrap in a thin cloth.

The nurse didnt cut back to rubble. She for sure had a hard time sticking you the 1st time. It grew to become into probably as a results of a rolling vein or it grew to become into hard to stumble on a great vein to stick. I even have caught an incredible sort of folk and maximum bruise. it is going to bypass away in a week or so. If no longer seek for suggestion from a doctor.

Probably ice...that will reduce the swelling. Eventually the bruising will go away, there's nothing you can do for that really.

What you do is 15 minutes of ice then 15 mins of heat for a couple of days and if that dosen't help go see your physician for something else would be going on. But this will really help. Along with elavation.
