Will a psychiatrist be able to help?

The question is what one have to do to to work on the problem besides taking the prescribtion given, and if it so happens the prescribtion given still persists.

I think that it depends on the issue, how much you're willing to work on your problem, and, of course....time. Going to a psychatrist won't solve your problem or issue in a relatively short amount of time( if it does, I guess you didn't have much of a problem, eh?)--many people see a psychatrist for several months to a year or more before making headway with their problems. But like I said, that largely depends on you.

the only thing that they do is write scripts. They guess at what's wrong with you based on what you tell them. Usually, they don't really know. Never met a good one yet and have been with quite a few.

It depends largely on the nature of the issue(s) to be addressed and the motivation of the patient.
