I can't understand why they wouldn't have given you antibiotics for a bacterial infection. That's what they're made for! Maybe you need to get a second opinion from somewhere else.

unless the bacteria was actually in your blood, and if it was you would have been admitted to the hospital for treatment, all they saw was that your white cell count was elevated. That means that you have an infection somewhere, and even if the lungs were normal on xray, you could still have a respiratory reaction to infection. The only way to know where your infection may be would be to have a thorough physical work up, including a urine test and a stool test, but most doctors will just prescribe a broad spectrum antibiotic and see if that solves the problem. I would say that if they did not give you an antibiotic, you need to see a doctor and get one, but other than that, don't worry about stopping breathing, the drive to breathe is one of the strongest in the body, just because you become short of breath doesn't mean you will just stop.

I can not say that I have heard of a bacterial infection that makes it hard for you to breath that does not effect your lungs or sinus in some way. So I can't give you a name for it. I am guess that you have received antibiotics and so at 2 weeks you should be feeling much better. I don't know when you went to urgent care last but you need to bug the crap out of them. Tell them its been 2 weeks and you are not better and still having trouble breathing or go to the ER or call your regular Dr. But keep bugging them cause they don't know how sick you are, you have to tell them!! And tell them till they get it.
