Injuries - October 2007

Since yesterday i was talking to my boyfriend, and all os a sudden i heard threee cracks in my jaw. it doesn't hurt like hell but when i opn my mouth to yawn all the way it hurts on my right side kinda like the pain goes to my ear a bit, what happend, and does it go away?

I had one a long time ago, its gone but I was wondering..being that the flesh is dead, does it become necrotic or gradually rot and slough off or anything? Or does it just heal very slowly?

I fell the other day on my left leg. It was a small bruise just under my knee. Since I fell the pain has gotten worse and the bruise has gone all the way down to my ankle and now is feeling hot to the touch. I dont know what to do.

my friend got in a fight and got a speed knot on his temple. there is a chance that he has a concussion. i mostly think this becuase he said it feels like something was leaking out of his ear. so whatcan happen if he has a concussion? he hasnt and probally wont go to the doctor.

When I was playing a rugby match someone punched me in the face and my lip went into my teeth and started bleeding. Now it is very sore, I cant eat or drink anything without it stinging and my teeth are still cutting into my lip. For those of you who want to know I was wearing a gum shield. Anyway, how can I treat this, sould I put ice on it or.. ? suggestions would be useful

Okay since the end of june I've had these horrible stomach pains EVERY SINGLE DAY. I thought it'd eventually go away but it hasn't. It hurts on my left upper torso and feels like...gas pain maybe? I don't know how to describe it. But it makes me feel like I have to go to the bathroom every 5 seconds. [Not literally but you know what I mean.] PLEASE help me!!

it all started with a little bump on his arm that itched a lot. He didn't make a connection between it and a time when he was 5 years and was playing with a handgun cartridge. He hit it with a stone and it went off, lodging pieces of lead in his arm.
It remained there until recently, i decided to excise the bump and ended up finding tiny lead pieces.
Does this sub-cutaneal lead exposure pose health risks for him? It was ther for 30 years.

He didn't tell his parents at the time because he knew he was going to get punished for it, and he won't go to the doctor or hospital to get tested.

Ok about two weeks ago my boyfriend got into a car accident and it was a serious accident too. Everyone says it was his fault which it wasnt. The 18 wheler hit him and to find out he driver of it as drunk. My boyfriend has been in the hospial since then and he is still not breathing well he has to have multiple surgeries before he can even go home. He broke 3 of his ribs he has a whole in his stomach and he messed up his leg and his lungs arent working right. For me i am scared and I really dont know what to do im use to being able to be with him but now i cant. What should I do.?

A dog bit my thumb, my skin is punctured, and my nail dented

Blood is flowing under the nail. Less than half of my thumb is purple. It throbs but not enough to cry about it.

What should I do? Help meee! I don't wanna go to the doctors.

my friend is in bad shape he had a gastric bypass 5 yrs ago and was in alot of pain and due to long cut ,would be in pain until healed.13 months later he went to his dr#1 and complained of excruciating pain still. dr#1 said don't worry! well he wanted 2nd op. and dr#2 did egd and found a 4" jp drain protruding through his new stomach. he took it out. after many tests they said it damaged internal parts and will be in pain for ever . he got a lawyer and they used the dr#2 that removed the tube for expert witness. well then 3 years later the dr#2 that was the expert wit lost his license and was told he no longer has a case due to dr2 losing license! and lawyer said he would not put any more into the case because he was out $$$$k.before the dr#2 lost license he had perfect case. lawyer said no good. and lawyer says he wants to settle for costs. Is someone paid off???case changed from good to bad for him really quick? lawyer is closing case! is friend obligated to settle for fees?

Hey. A couple of days ago I guess an insect bit my eye lid twice. two days later I woke up and its all swollen. I can open it but you can tell that it seems like someone punched me in the eye lol.

anyways I need to get rid of this fast. Anybody know how to reduce the swollen eye? I tried cold water and ice but i havent noticed a drop off in the swollen ness. Any medicines out that or anything else? thanks!

I'm pretty sure that hyperextension only refers to when the joint is bent too much, but along it's normal path of movement. What would be the correct term for when a joint is bent in a direction other than its normal path, enough to cause injury, but not enough to dislocate? would that also be hyperextension?

I was hit on the drivers side of my car by an idiot who was driving too fast. This was on Wednesday night and on Thursday morning and today I have had a headache which is all around the side of my head, particulary behind my ears and round the back of my head. I can move my neck but it feels generally stiff. I do have pain by it is not unbearable, it is situated around my shoulders and down my back, between my shoulder blades. When I move my head I feel the discomfort more in my shoulders and back than in my neck. Also when I walk my shoulders and back feel very heavy and as if they are burning. The thing is I also have a cold so is it more likely that my discomfort is being caused by this? People are telling me I've got whiplash but wouldn't I be in a lot more pain and not be able to move my neck at all if I did?

My calf muscle has been hurting for the past three days. i got a charlie horse then it started to hurt after that and hasnt stopped. I'm in dance and my dance teachers tell me to just dance it off. but it seems to stay the same. my friends think i could of pulled it but i dont know for sure.

i messed up my knee yesterday running and it hurts to walk, go up stairs, stand up, and sit down. It is very stiff and it makes creaky noises when i move it, also it cracked and pops when i walk, this is very painful. got any ideas on whats wrong?By the way i am 15 if that helps in any way.
