When I was playing a rugby match someone punched me in the face and my lip went into my teeth and started bleeding. Now it is very sore, I cant eat or drink anything without it stinging and my teeth are still cutting into my lip. For those of you who want to know I was wearing a gum shield. Anyway, how can I treat this, sould I put ice on it or.. ? suggestions would be useful

use/ chloraseptic mouth wash that will numb your lip and allso aid in the healing ,once the swelling goes down you should be ok.
Some people just use some table salt in some warm water untill the swelling is gone.

1] I assume you have cleaned it already. Your coach would have been able to tell if you needed stitches, right?
2] ice on 20 minutes, ice off 20 minutes while awake.[ put in zip lock bag, and cover with a soft paper towel ]
3] apply a dab of antibiotic ointment with pain relief to lip - do not lick it off. Apply two or threee times aday for two or three days [ will feel lots better by then ]
4] take a motrin or an aspirin - will help decrease the swelling
5] use a straw for liquids and soups - put in corner of mouth, so won't touch injury
6] do NOT eat anything spicy or acidic for two or three days

Ice would probably help. I believe youre supposed to do twenty minutes on, twenty minutes off, but definitely put something like a rag between the ice and your lip, cause ohmygod thats cold. For piercings, they tell you to use a sea salt solution to keep it from scarring so much. Maybe that'd be a good idea?
