This friend of yours could have a hematoma or a brain bleed. He could die. He NEEDS to go to the doctor right away! If he felt stuff running out of his ear, then he could be leaking fluid from a fracture. I had a friend DIE from a blow to the temple. It took three days, but he died. TAKE HIM TO THE ER!~

Untreated Concussion

Usually nothing happens. Most concussions are not severe enough to merit brain surgery. Make him sit up to keep blood from flooding the brain. Definitely do not raise his legs. Keep a close eye on his eyes. Both pupils should be the same size and both should react to light (get smaller). If you shine a light in one pupil, that one should get smaller and so should the other. Watch him for signs of lethargy, tiredness, or sleepiness. Definitely put ice on the area for the next 24 hours. Make him sleep while sitting up in an easy chair, if possible. Talk with him about current events to see if he is still lucid, or mentally alert. Like he should know the date and who the President is. If he fails any of these criteria, keep an especially close eye on him. Blood could be leaking into the area of the brain or the dura mater between the brain and the skull. Either could be deadly. Watch him!

All I know is I have put a bunch of question on here about bipolar because of a good friend of mine. I think I've lost him though. He's "down" and has been for a couple weeks. I mentioned meds/dr, etc. - he got pissed - from then on he's decided to be "alone" and cut everyone off, including me. Haven't talked to him in a while. I get scared for him. I got so mad at him because he does this every once in a while (hurts me - emotionally) but it's not his fault and when I'm upset, I forget that he's not being normal. It's SOOOOO confusing and frightening at the same time. From what I understand, without medication, it's a loss.

If he is refusing to go to the doctor, u must call for an ambulance A.S.A.P. The paramedics will soon put him right (tell him the risk he is taking) and take him straight to hospital. The injury that ur friend has sustained is very serious. His skull could be fractured. The fluid that 'leaked' out of his ear is most likely cerebral spinal fluid and that only happens if the skull is fractured. Please get him help soon... head injuries are no joke. He could be dead by morning if u don't.

If a person has a concussion and goes without being checked out by a health care provider, it is impossible to say what exactly might happen to that person. Nevertheless, the severity of the impact and the area of the brain that is injured both play a role.

My son had a concussion, and he was talking and acting normal. We took him to the ER just in case. He was bleeding inside his brain. He had major brain surgery. He would have died if he hadn't had the surgery. He was falling asleep, we couldn't wake him. Fortunately, we decided to check it out. The main area of injury was his right temple just above and forward of the soft spot. His skull was crushed in several areas that are now supported with titanium plates. He's okay, back to normal, but if the EMSs and fire people not insisted on taking him to the hospital just to check, he'd have died in bed that night.

Go get an x-ray.

Yes, he needs to see a doctor. AND he needs to make certain that he gets rest for at least one full week without any major blows to the head.

Do you watch football on TV? If so, then you know of players that have been hit in the head a second time before their brain has recovered. This is a serious problem. It happened to one player who can't even remember the names of his own children now.

Take this seriously or serious permanent damage can occur!

That "leak" is probably spinal fluid, which is not good at all.
