Ask the lady in your life to give you a good massage, it works wonders unless there is an underlying problem, in which case it would be better to get it checked out by your GP, if he's any good you'll be referred to hospital for a scan or ex ray. Acupuncture is another option that seems to work for many people, however it can be expensive because quite a few sessions are needed for any lasting benefits.

I would say NEVER go to a chiropractor because some of them purposely make your back worse so you always have to go back. I've had this happen to me and he left me in such pain and misery. The only thing that helped was going to physical therapist. The muscles in your lower back are probably weak so they need strengthened. In physical therapy I started out in a hot tub for about 15 minutes, then he did electrical stem cell on the trouble spots to get the cells moving and blood circulation going. Then massage in the trouble spots. Then spent 20-30 minutes doing little excercises to strengthen the weak muscles. During that time of the physical therapy, I never felt better. And I learned that it WASN'T my spine like the crook of a chiropractor told me, but it did feel like it was, so I was suprised when the therapy worked. Even if you try it, you won't be taking a chance of having damages done to your spine and the hot tub and massages are nice too :)

Walking makes mine go away. I used to have days when I couldn't even stand up straight, but I forced myself to keep walking and by the end of the second mile, I would be upright. Now I walk for an hour at a rate of 3 mph and the pain stays away unless I sit at this darn computer too long.

i have had those pains too for ages and sometimes i have to see a chiropractor.but find one that understands you dont want to be a slave to his treatments. i found the best preventative for me is stretching my back.i do this by lying on the floor face down and raising up with my hands keeping my hips on the floor and then relaxing.repeat 5-10 times.i then sit on my knees and reach as far forward as possible with my hands on the floor...ala "praying to mecca". repeat 5- 10 times.then i lay on my back and pull one knee at a time to my chest and then back down 5 times with each leg.i do all these as many as 3 times per day.the main thing is to keep your muscles loose.i know what your going through and i hope these help

First, make sure you don't have an issue with your kidneys. Both my brother and my husband made the mistake of thinking they had back problems when in reality they had kidney stones and cysts on their kidneys. (This is relatively common.)

If you're sure you have muscle aches, go for the Bengay. It smells awful, but it really helps. Also, I pulled a muscle in my back a month or so ago and my doctor told me to put ice on it a couple of times a day. Normally I would have gone for the heat, but the ice really helped...

rub a hot ointment on it 3 times a day. I use "Goanna Heat" here in Australia. You will probably have to find something else. Make it as hot as you can find.

A few visits to the chiropractor would not hurt either.
