General Health Care - October 2007

I can't find any good exercises to do for my shoulder...
Everything seems to make it hurt more,
like when I run,it really stings.

When I lift any weights more than 5 pounds,it also stings and makes it really painful to lift things.
Are there any good exercises to build up my shoulder?

Recently my husband found out that there's a lump on the left side of neck,he feels sharp pain on and off .. We went to our family clinic and he prescribe the antibotics for him , the doctor say that the cause of lump should be cause by infection so this few weeks he eaten the medicine and the lumps really gone down but after 1 weeks later it came back again... Can anyone tell me what can we do to make the lumps disappered....

I had invited my friends yesterday for lunch and while cooking I had to cut quite a few green chillies. Now my I have a burning sensation on my hand. Can anybody suggest any solution for this. Thanks in advance.

Do you find that you're exhausted most of the time? When it hurts less due to medication or any other reason (just having a good day, just had trigger point injections, etc.), do you find that your level of alertness and energy increase dramatically?

I think I see a connection in myself... I don't take my pain meds (not opiates, other stuff) every day, but I've noticed that on days when I don't take them if I'm in pain, I feel extremely tired most of the day. This is also true on days when I take them, but they don't really do the job because it's just a particularly bad day.

I guess I'm trying to figure out the cause and effect relationships.

Maybe I'm hurting because I'm tired? Maybe I'm tired because I'm hurting? Maybe there's a different reason for both? Maybe the correlation is in my head? lol

I have had two knee scopes and have horrible arthritis and constant knee pain. Vicodin is the only thing that seems to work for the pain. No I am not an addict or junkie, I'm a 38 year old married mother of 3 who has a full time job outside the home who just can't take being in constant pain anymore. Any suggestions from anyone? I am too young for a knee replacement I'm being told so........

I think I slept wrong on my shoulder jamming it. During the summer it wasn't so bad when I was taking glucosamine but I stopped taking it. I think I jammed my arm again, or I need more Glucosamine, because when I lift my arm shoulder length I hear a popping - like the kid in high school who cracked his knuckles - I also feel pain. Any exersizes ? Therapy ?

I know its gross but here goes, over the past few weeks, I have had 99% loose stools. Not as loose as diarrhea, but close. Some looser than others. I eat pretty healthy and my eating habits havent changed. I am racking my brain as to what I am eating or drinking thats different than before, but there isnt anything. I have always had a weak stomach and occasional digestive issues but, not consistent like this. Any ideas?

I like to inhale the smoke produced by my paper cigarette! I just inhale it through my mouth and exhale. I don't go past my mouth. Since the smoke touches my lips, are my lips going to get dark like other people say? How long would it take? Will the smoke cause premature skin aging, showing capillaries, varicose veins, dark lips, that horrible smell, and all those other things? What will smoke do to my lips?

My brother said for the past 5 days on both hands his ring and pinky finger are numb. when he raises his hands up, it hurts and feels like his funny bone pops? he is 42, was in a car accident back in april or so, just brusies and bumps, he was been working at a pizza place, and kneads the dough, not sure if anything is connected. He is going to the doctor soon, but we were just trying to figure things out. Could it be something with B12? lack of? i have been searching online.

My right tonsil seems swollen and my throat is a bit tender as well. Is this anything to be nervous about? I'm 24 and have always had a somewhat enlarge right tonsil, but it's never hurt like this. The throat is tender when you put pressure on it (if you press my neck from the outside), and internally my throat hurts a bit as well, but I always have a slight postnasal drip so that's not really a cause for concern.

Is this simply a small case of tonsillitis? (No, I don't see any white spots or anything on the tonsil just yet.) The tonsil feels enlarged enough that it's physically uncomfortable. Can I just take Tylenol/Ibuprofen, get rest, and wait it out?

I had my gal bladder removed 3 weeks ago. I felt a lot better write away. I was up walking around the next day and in 3 days I felt almost normal. But when I do normal things like driving or reaching and bending alot I start to get this really sharp pain on my wright side where my gal bladder was. The pain is very sharp and takes my breath away. If I take a deep breath or bend over it feels like I have a knife in my side. When I wake up the next day I feel a lot better and my pain is hardly there.
Should I be worried? Is that normal?

decided not to take Kimo and was only given 3 months well he had a wonderful 6 months and it was hard to see him go but he was at peace and very happy. Well a week after he passed they discovered my G-ma had it too! They gave her until Christmas, two weeks later she was gone! She passed away Monday at 3pm None of us expected it to be so sudden Just Sunday she was fine then the next morning she was able to move a round and wasn’t able to respond. I rushed home from work to find her just laying there staring off into space and gasping for her last breaths I stayed by her side for a few hours then noticed she was getting worse I couldn’t stand to watch. I gave her a kiss and told her I loved her then left 10 mins later she died! I am 8 months pregnant and she wanted soooo bad to see her first great grandchild! I haven’t been able to sleep since it happened the whole thing just keeps replaying over and over in my head. To make matters worse I was in accident this morning! Things just keep getting bad. I feel so stranded I know I can’t get worked up and stressed b/c of the baby and I have been doing so good up until now I can’t hold it all back any more. I am 35 weeks pregnant and having serious cramping and back pains, I have been to the doctor and I haven’t dilated or anything but I am soo miserable and every time I get upset my belly hurts more and more along w/ my back. How am I going to get through these next 5 weeks?

Girl Friend of 7 years and knows my condition allowed me to lie there for several hours. She poked my left side with a pin constantly as it was numb and unmovable, I could barely answer. Isn't that a crime to allow someone to possible die and not call 911? I awoke very sore with little blood dots down my left side. Isn't there a law to cover this? I feel it was intentional. A friend of mine came by during this and stayed beside me till I was able to talk. I feel she violated some law in Indiana here.

i work at ups as a package handler and for the past month the joints in my wrists have been sore. it hurts to bend them in pretty much every direction but mostly to the outside. i know that they hurt from overusing them and carpal tunnel has been ruled out since that only affects your thumb and first thee fingers (not your pinky). the pain mostly comes from the outside of my wrists. it also hurts to apply pressure to them like when i do pushups or any kind of weight lifting. when i'm at work they hurt at first but after they get warmed up i dont feel much pain and i lift the packages in a way that doesnt hurt them as much. they dont really affect me from doing everyday tasks but i cant lift weights with them like this and thats definitely a problem for me. anybody have any ideas?

I've had progressive pain in first the right foot and ankle and now have pain in both feet and ankles. I did a web search and FOUND the answer to my pain. The pain was in my ankles and heels. I bought pain creams, magnet treatments, many many shoes, pain tablets, insoles... I searched out "arch" pain and causes and that's it!!! I bought those walk fit insoles and never used them till tonight...I wrapped them on my feet with ace bandages and socks and wore them and the pain is slowly leaving!!! What relief I don't have to crawl to the bathroom anymore. Anyone know of some good inexpensive arch support shoes???

hey guys... i broke my nose on Friday :( i have been told of the doctor that it could be fixed. i haven't had any problems with breathing, it doesn't look chaneged. i have to decide today if i want the operation or not, but i am crazy scared of all kind of operations. does anyone has a broken nose ... and no problems after that, but without fixing? i mean.... i know there is a risk that my breathing might be changed if they don't fix it... but is it for sure... plese give me an advice. thanks

I moved a little the other night, nothing strenuous. I heard a loud pop and there was instant excruciating pain in my left side, sort of towards the back. I made my way upstairs in severe stabbing pain and woke up my mom. We went to the E.R. and they checked for kidney stones... nothing. They keep thinking it's muscle but I've never felt muscle pain like this. Sometimes when I move I can still hear a quieter, grinding or popping sound. Can anyone help?? They prescribed me vicodin and a muscle relaxer but they only take the edge off.

Also, I've had a chronic cough for the last few months and there's nothing on the chest xrays. I feel like my body is falling apart and I'm only 20 years old!! Please help, I've seen 3 doctors and all of them just don't know what to do with me.

I am in my twenties and have recently started taking methotrexate to treat my arthritis and I have to take 8 pills a week. I have a really hard time swallowing pills, it usally takes me an hour and a half and makes me feel sick. I have tried every thing to swallow them easier, but nothing works. Is it better to take methotrexate injections. Do they hurt. I don't know what to do.
