You have a choice, see a Dr or treat it yourself. Whatever you do do not cut any of the nail. I have been able to coax the nail out of the skin. It was rather painful. It did keep coming back and I eventually saw a Podiatrist and he had to cut away almost half the nail. If it is bad or you want it taken care of for good see a Dr soon. If you leave it the toe will become more and more painful.

As long as you want it to last. It doesn't cure itself. Get it treated!!
