Are you kidding me?! Neither your girlfriend or your friend took you to the hospital or called 911? I'm not sure of a particular law, not it's definitely cruel and unusual punishment. But had you passed, they both would have been convicted for sure!

Hi
I am not sure about the amercian laws so can't help there, but if you are considering staying with this lady then there is the moral issue at stake.
You need help if you have suffered a stroke as you could have suffered further strokes without knowing....this requires hospital treatment.
This is quite an abusive situation by the sounds of it and you need to look long and hard at your situation and consider what happens next time!
Speak to someone who can help you and do it soon before she leaves you in that state again.
JJ :)

There is no legal law that says that a person has to call 911 in an emergency. Ethically that was very wrong of her and she is going to have to live with what she did. I would leave her if I were you and find someone who actually cares if you live or die.

I don't know if there is a Samaritan law in Indiana or not but it is definitely a moral issue. Why stay with someone who doesn't care enough to call 911? I wish you a speedy recovery. Good luck.

Why didn't your friend call when he(or she) came by. There may a criminal act; if you died, she would probably have been indicted for manslaughter. You can always file a suit for damages if you can make a case her inaction caused the stroke to be worse than it was.
Generally, the law doesn't punish stupidity. But I would definitely look for a new girl friend.

Methinks you ought to get a new girl friend - and what do mean "a friend... stayed beside me till I was able to talk"? Did no one call 911? did no one call a doctor?
I think your situation is a little more serious than just a girl friend problem....
god bless

There's no law that states you have to help someone in need. I think you might be able to get an assault charge to stick if you can prove that she was the one who injured you with the poking.
Did the second friend take you to the hospital, or do you not consider strokes serious?

Your poor poor person! I hope you are no longer with her! If she knew of your condition she should have reacted! I'm not sure about the law as i'm in uk but you should certainly look into it further, ask your local law enforcement for advice.

Uhhh..........honey, I'd get away from this "girlfriend" as quickly as you possibly can. About the legality? I have no idea. Call the hospital and ask them, or even the police dept.
Ask somebody!

Unless she has a medical background, I don't think you have a case. She could just claim ignorance of basic first aid.
However, I don't think I'd keep her as a girlfriend.
