General Health Care - July 2007

I have cracked my acrylic nail clean from one side to the other, and my own nail has also split the whole way across. My nail is quite long and all still on - holding by the nail bed! If anyone or anything touches it, its agony. What should I do? If I cut the length the nail will lift from the nail bed, but the length makes it easier to knock it! Its all wrapped up and I am not touching it - any advice on what i should do?

I was running hurdles today I and I fell.. Pretty hard.. I have a huge bruise on my hip and my arm hurts so bad I want to cry. I have broken this arm *right arm* before. It hurts bad, I can harly move my fingers, how do I know the difference between a sprain and a broken arm?

I'm soo worried because, like I said, I have broken this before --- What do I do? Please help.. :( I am so scared and in pain.

My mom thinks I am "faking it" - please please help me!

My friend's 12-yr. old daughter got into a car accident 2 weeks ago & broke her arm. I just noticed that she was in the bathroom for a very long time & came out & somehow took the cast off her arm because she is emo & likes pain. Should we take her back to the hospital to get a new cast on her arm? This is the 3rd time she did this within the 2 weeks, & she did it 2 time before earlier in the week when she was at camp.

I have had a bad lower back for about 5 months now. I can't seem to shake it. It isn't unbearable but it is very uncomfortable and has prevented me from doing any type of weightlifting, such as squats without feeling extremely sore the next day.

When I push on the actual vertebrae it hurts right on top as if there were a layer that hurt right on top of it.

I'm pretty sure I have strep, and I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow, but can someone give me what to do about easing the pain until then...I can barely swallow...(and I'm already drinking alot of fluid and gargling salt water...) eehhhhh...someone help please...

my side pains aren't there anymore- but at some random moments i feel them. But i have still have my knot (it's about 4 or 5 inches away from my belly button on the right side). & now i have no apetite what so ever & i haven't ate anything all day & have no desire to eat at all. That's the only thing that i'm worried about right now. Oh yeah, my feet have began to slightly swell, it's weird i know!

These are two different problems but to walk is increadibly painful, and even sitting hurts. Its the outside of my left foot and the pain runs almost to my ankle, possibly broken? and what can be done for it? (Fell into a half foot pot hole off a curb).
And I just started getting this wierd tremor thumping on my upper arm around my bicep. Feels like a fast strong heart beat and I can see my arm moveing.. what could this be?

I burned my finger an hour ago,i've been putting cold water and ice on it but the minute i take it off it hurts ALOT..i don't have the cream that i'm supposed to put on and the pharmacy is closed now,i'll go tomorrow morning.

so whenever i try to go to bed, and i get comfy and everything, but then i get the strongest urge to pee. although, when i use the restroom i don't pee at all. i also always feel kinda nauseous, if that has anything to with it... i dont really think it's something serious to the point i need to see a doctor.
but why am i having all these urges to pee, when i don't even have to?!?

what possible repercussions are there and why is it not up to the patient to decide and the doctor to monitor? I believe narcotics can be very helpful and I wonder doctors don't write them more often. I think they just have a bad rap. People let the media and the christians and the anti drug people brainwash them and doctors are considered quacks if they just want to help people deal with their pain. Ok, well, I am only 13. Starting about the beginning of the summer, I felt this sharp pain in my heart. However, it is developing on both sides. So, I am thinking it is my lungs, and not my heart. I am a very athletic girl. I weigh 104 lb's, am thin, tall, and do alot of sports like track, cross country, and basketball. When I breath VERY deeply, I get this pain in the area of my heart. But sometimes, it just hurt s a little bit on th right side of my chest. And once or twice this summer, when I was laying down on my back, I had this REALLY painful sharp pain that lasted for like 30 seconds. What could be wrong? Will I need to got o the doctor? I am very worried, and I don't want to die young.

On a fire hydrent, they have that stick thing, to make it more visable. Well I touched one well riding by on my bike. We've been soaking it in espeon salt and hot water. It hurts bad when I move my finger and/ or touch it on or with something.
If you look at your fingers, there's like 3 parts, the slivers on the bottom part.
Can someone please tell me how to get it out?!?!
