I have cracked my acrylic nail clean from one side to the other, and my own nail has also split the whole way across. My nail is quite long and all still on - holding by the nail bed! If anyone or anything touches it, its agony. What should I do? If I cut the length the nail will lift from the nail bed, but the length makes it easier to knock it! Its all wrapped up and I am not touching it - any advice on what i should do?

Cut the stupid nail before you tear it further. If you can't, then put a band aid on it till you can go to the nail shop tomorrow.

Jeez.

A visit to the manicurist does seem in order, but if you want to handle it yourself, trim as far down as you can, past the split, and file it so it won't snag. Then you keep a fairly tight bandage on that finger so the nail doesn't lift from the nail bed.

Use some over-the-counter pain killers, like neosporin with pain med or anbesol or canker sore med and paint under your nail when you're in agony. That will numb it at least for a little while.

If it swells, seems red, runs a fever (or you run a fever) or a red streak starts up your finger, go to the dr.

they might. there's a extreme possibility. yet often you may desire to no longer have long nails in any respect whilst enjoying basketball, no longer to show acrylics. some refs even verify nails on the commencing up of the interest in the event that they're incredibly stable and additionally you will might desire to shrink your nails in the event that they do. this is extra stable to play with them and this is risky.

You need to cut it as far down as you can, then wrap a band aid around it so it does not rip. The tomarrow go to you nail tech and have him or her remove it and put a new one on.

soak it in some acetone and let the fake nail fall off. keep a bandage on your real nail so it won't get caught on something. Let it grow out some and then cut it.
