You can't cure migraines forever, but you can talk to your doctor about medications that can help migraines become less severe. Stay away from food and beverages that contain caramel color, citric acid, caffeine, yellow dyes, and red dyes, all of which can trigger migraines. Also avoid foods and beverages that contain sulfites. For the pain, take Excedrin Migraine, my mom takes it, after all prescription medications failed, and it works wonders for her, she takes it with a Calcium tablet (over the counter vitamin) for extra effectiveness.
Keep a journal of what triggers your migraine pain, foods you eat, amount of sleep you get, when you are stressed out, etc. Also avoid foods high in salt, saturated fat, and artificial sweeteners...oh yes, and avoid chocolate.
Good luck to you!

I don't know how to make them 'go away for good', but I do know a way to minimize the severity.
For me, the first sign of a migraine is that my eyes become sensitive to light, and I get bright, twirly spots in my eyes. As soon as I recognize the signs, I immediately go somewhere quiet, close my eyes and cover them with my hands or something. I have found that if I do this quickly, my migraine will never actually materialize. (It ususally only takes about 5 - 10 minutes.)
What works for one person may not work for you, so you may have to try several things before you find what works.

I've has migraines all my life. They can be caused by different things and sometimes we confuse a migraine for another type of headache. the only way to get treated is to start the process by going to your family doc for a referrel to a specialist. If it's the result of injury, see and orthapaedic doc, if not, a neurolgist may be needed. Possibly a sinus specialist if it turns out to be sinus pressure/pain. Sorry, there is no easy road to foollw to short cut the process. But the good news is, for each type of headache there are proceedures or meds to control the headache.

Sorry to say...you can't ever get rid of them totally. I've suffered with them for 20 years now and they just found something to help me a week ago. Imitrex. I get migraines with stroke like symptoms and end up in the hospital because I can't talk normal, can't spell my own name, my arms go numb and people around me panic and call an ambulance. I thought my husband was going to die when he saw me last week, he'd never seen it before and was totally panicked. Try the imitrex...it's prescription only but it works wonders. It's very strong but it is designed specifically for migraines. Also if you feel one coming on put ice on your forehead and the back of your neck and cover your eyes with something very dark and just lay there, this can prevent them from getting so severe.

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Avoid late sleeping if possible;spicy, sour, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, sweet fruits, milk, rice and good sleep will help you.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.
If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

You need to pay close attention to them and figure out what is triggering them. Recall (when you get one) what you ate, smelled, drank, where you were, etc.. . There are trigger points ie: food, smell, touch... Figure out what your may be and you will have a better chance of getting rid of them properly with natural or prescribed products.
If they persist on a regular basis, you should contact your physician. There are a number of new meds that treat the symptoms. Therefore, when you feel one coming on, IMMEDIATELY take your medicine, lay back and relax, quiet all loud noises, and turn down the lights.

I get migraines too. My neurologist gave me Topamax to take and it really helped. But you have to drink a lot of water or you may get a kidney stone. I also take Imitrex when I get one or Vicodin. I also get massages as often as I can. You need to keep a diary so you can ascertain what may be causing them. For me, I can't have luncheon meats, hot dogs, or red wines. I need to keep my stress levels down and keep a regular sleep pattern. Good luck. 2D
