I have afew solutions which have helped me in the past- they depend on how well "developed" the bite is so take your pick.
The bite was on my face (above my lip, below my nose) and ithced like crazy, so I couldnt leave it as I kept accidntally scratching it and it was getting bigger and bigger...
I first tried using germoline or tcp to clean the area, then after it has dried, eurilax (a cream which stops itching) to get it to calm down. I left this on overnight then washed off with soap in the morning. I had to repeat this twice (two nights) to get to the next stage.
Then after the itching stoped, the bite swelling went down, I was able to 'pop' it like a spot, yes it was gross, yes it was massive and yes it was so violent a burst it flicked onto the mirror and back at me- yuck! I made sure I squeezed until I drew blood- seriously sick, but atleast I didnt have a mountain of puss sitting on my face!
After squeezing the rest of it out, I dabbed on a little tcp (note it has to be a non creamy disinfectant or it'll only grow back into a spot again).
When clean and disinfected, I covered it really well in aloevera cream. I was able to get mine from wholefoods in Kensington, london where I live near by, but if you are not near here, try holland and barratts or any other health food place or market where aloe is often sold either as a juice (make sure if it is bought as a juice, that its only water and aloe, and has no sugar, glucose, etc or man made stuff inside).
Within 24 hours, the bite was gone!
I didnt try with just aloe and nothing else but think this is also well worth a try as aloe is supposed to be really fantastic at healing all wonds and bites.
Goodluck!!

Try a cold compress - wrap an ice pack (or a bag of frozen peas) in a tea towel and press it on the bite.
If it is itching, make a paste from baking soda and water, just enough water to make a paste and then spread it on.
Failing that, go to the pharmacy and get some calamine lotion
Hope it gets better soon, they're murder and they love me lol

I have heard from several people I know that they use scotch tape and it really stops the itching. You could take an oral benydryl (dyphenhidramine hydrochloride) or use a benadryl cream (don't use them both together though, this could cause an overdose). Try putting ice on it to relieve the swelling/burning sensations you are feeling.

I use a combination of tea tree oil (to cleanse the area) and an anti-histamine cream. I react very badly to the little ****ers and it is important that I have a way of dealing with them.
In the UK the cream I use is called Antihisan and is available at the local chemist

I hate mosquitos! One bit me right by my eye 2 nights ago.
Go to the drug store and get something that numbs. If you go to the pharmacy and ask for something with 4% - 5% LIDOCAINE, that will numb it for sure. I can't remember the brand name for that cream. You might have to reapply a couple times. It's expensive, though...$32?
Or just like in the first aid aisle and find something with lidocaine. Get the highest percentage you are willing to pay for.

Vinegar is an old fashioned remedy, but next time you sit in the garden cut a lemon in half and put it in some warm water near where your re sitting, it helps keep the midgets away.

calamine lotion
witch hazel (you can buy the special wipes for hemmeroids.. those are just witch hazel)
or, a paste of plain uncooked oatmeal and a small amount of milk or soymilk
and don't scratch! ice or a cool rag will help with swelling
you can also buy benadryl spray, or take a benedryl pill or both. there are a few other sprays that help.. just different antibacterial sprays in the first aid aisle

A good scratch
More seriously-your leg is swollen because of an allergy in which histamine is formed. So your doc should be able to give you the correct anti-histamine to bring down swelling-if it is necessary. It happened to me once-my foot swelled up to twice normal size-went to A and E

absorbine jr takes the sting and ouch away. Just scratch the bite lightly, apply absorbine jr. It stings like blazes for a few seconds then it goes away.

I have bad allergies and I use "POLYTOPIC." It is an antibiotic cream that is over the counter in Ontario/Canada, available by prescription elsewhere. I have used it for sunburn problems to reduce that burning sensation. It is listed under health & wellness, shopper's drug mart, medication library
