I have had a bad lower back for about 5 months now. I can't seem to shake it. It isn't unbearable but it is very uncomfortable and has prevented me from doing any type of weightlifting, such as squats without feeling extremely sore the next day.

When I push on the actual vertebrae it hurts right on top as if there were a layer that hurt right on top of it.

Did you try a chiropractor?. I had a couple herniated disks and got on a machine called the DRX9000. It cured that problem without surgery. (It is a high tech decompression machine- gently pulls the disks)

It sounds like you might have a ruptured disk. This is the little cushioning pad can herniate out of the spinal column and `weight lifting is an easy way to do it. You need to go see an orthopedic surgeon and see about having an MRI. It is a painless test that can tell you if this is your problem. Five months is too long to be dealing with this. If you do have this problem, and you continue to lift, you can re- injure your already weakened back and cause permanent paralysis.Go see a doctor!
