General Health Care - June 2007

My son is camping with my Grandmother about 4 hours away from where I am. Last night, something bit him on his arm and it's since then swelled up to about a 3 inch radius. This morning, he felt nauseus and my Granmother just called telling me he's feverish and feeling really ill, so she's packing up and bringing him back to her house, which is another three hours from where I am. She plan on bringing him to the doctor or the emergency room as soon as she gets there, depending on if he's the same or worse. My question is, does anyone know what could have bit him for him to have this reaction? They were camping at a campground, digging in the sand and swimming in the ocean in lower Connecticut.

I've been using pot to fall and stay asleep for many years, but I've stopped for health reasons and now I haven't been able to sleep for about 3 days now. How can this not be a physical addiction if my body hurts from exhaustion and yet i cant sleep! Any thoughts?

ok. my sister accidentaly ran over my foot and i think its broken. =/
my toes are fine but mu heel really REALLY hurts. if i walk on it long enough itll be ok but if i rest it for a while itll HURT so bad!!! =/

i got toilet cleaner in my eye (yes have posted b4 but not got answer) it burnt my eye lid. I had some orange dye in th eye at the hospital they said the eye was clear just the lid. I got some eye ointment to use and have to go bk in morning. it is still possible for my vision to go in the eye if it was clear today. would it show up if my vision was funny thanks

Hi Im otherwise healthy but slipped down the stairs and banged my coxs and now both my ankles really hurt and stiff,ive headache on the right of my head even though i did not bang it,and my bum really hurts and feel sick. I dont want to bother the hospital buy what would you advise? i also feel tired but not enough to go to sleep

I have been trying to get disability now for 5 years, I have fibromyalgia, and I can't keep a job, because of fibro fog, and I cannot concentrate.

Hi...I was just bitten by a cat (long story, but not her fault)...she was in boarding and highly stressed.
I am allergic to every antibiotic I have ever tried and I am away from my home country (Australia) in Canada where I have no health insurance. It happened about 2 hours ago and doesn't look infected yet, but of course I am worried.
I saw a doc here who was rude and useless and said they all get infected 24 hours later and I have to take antiobitics....when I told her I was allergic, she didn't really care and acted like there was nothing she could do then. I'm tempted to get back on a plane to Australia this evening so I can get proper treatment if I need it, but not sure what to do. I'm up to date on tetanus and the cat is healthy. The area feels bruised, and there are 2 holes that are a bit swollen, the others not so bad. If I go back to Australia, that's not good as I have to leave all my cats behind here in boarding til I can get back. Please help.

I just discover that my eyes vision are different. My right eye vision is worse than my left. Is that a sign of illness ? How can I get rid of it...or I will be blind...cuz I dont wan to be blind.

My right eye vision is -2 while my left eye remains strong...So Im wearing glasses now but however...the eyesight of both eyes now become worse than before...What does that mean?

Hi,
Has anyone out there had any Facet Injections of the cervical area? I have to have these done because I have two herniations in my neck, the C4-5 and C6-7. The Dr. wants to do these injections and a nerve root block and then later do a Rhizotomy because of the inflammation and irritation. Has anybody out there ever had any of these procedures done? I just don't know what to expect. You can read about it online but it's not like hearing from someone who has actually had it done. Thank you for any help......I'm very nervous about this. : (

my sunburn hurts really bad. and when i put a cold towel on it , it doesnt make it hurt anymore but i cant leave it on all day cause i would look stupid and it would make my shirt get all wet. soo is there another way ?

when i was 12 i got diagnosed with migraine headaches they went away and i would have them occasional rather than everyday. im 19 now and for the past year i have been having headaches that can last up to two weeks at a time i have no sickness dizziness or anything like that. last year i had a miscarriage and for the pain was prescribed co-codamol . my headaches have come back i can have spells where i have no headaches for ages but other times i can have headaches that last all day long and for days after even weeks . sometimes it feels like my head is very tight and light headed and have a achy neck. so i started taking more and more co-codamol pills taking the max amount a day. i wouldnt have a headache but if i didnt take the pills for 1 day my headaches would come back . do you think my headaches are related to taking the co-codamol so much on the box it says that taking co-codamol for a long period of time can get you addicted aswell as making headaches worse . thanks 4 answers

I am taking flexeril because i was in a car acident and i injured my back pretty badly. sometimes the pain is so bad i cannot sleep. the dr prescribed 10mg pills, but i cut them in half. i always feel extremely groggy and drowsy in the mornings. i know its a seditive type pill but even after sleeping 12-13 hours i feel very druged and drowsy with a hard time waking up. is this normal?

I am in connecticut on vacation. I live in california and I know I need a root canal but it is going to cost a lot to fix it, plus xray costs and all. Is there something over the counter I can put on the tooth or gums to stop the pain? I have degenterative change of my cervical spine. Mild narrowing of the disck c3-4 and a bulging annulus or protrusion of C4-5. The doctor wants to give me three epidural shots, one each week for three weeks. I have always heard that you do not give the shots that close together. Can anyone help me out? I have been in severe pain in my neck and down my arm for several monthes. Thanks

I dropped a 200 pound box on my toe and its been bleeding for 3 days. Its all black underneath. It doesnt hurt anymore unless I apply pressure to it. Is there anyway it will not fall off? and If so, What can I do to ensure I don't lose the nail?

I got my cartilage pierced on Sunday nite by my friend with her piercing gun. It was fine up until Yesterday morning and by nite it was bothering me so much, I had to take it out. My other friend came over to help me, and she said it looked like I had my earring pushed back really far, so much that it was irratating my cartilage and once I took it out she always mentioned that there was a cut back there. I woke up not long ago and my ear is STILL red, throbbing, and it looks like theres a yellow puss where my ear was pierced. (When I cleaned my ear last nite there was some yellow stuff that came off also.)

From reading up on this, it seems like my ear is infected, but what do I do? I'm really scared. I REALLY don't want to go to the doctor? What will make it heal on it's own? Will I be okay if I don't go to the doctor?

Please help!! Thanks.

I'm going to my local council on Monday and I'm really nervous, my voice will be all shaky and I'll more than likely get lost, does anyone have any tips to stay like calmer?

The new smoking ban is coming in on Sunday July the 1st and its legal to smoke at 16 but if want to go on a no smoking programme you have to be 18 also the fact that the goverment is aloud to smoke inside in there houses etc as they say they like to drink and smoke there cigars at the same tym ( i meen bull S H I T) its as though one rule for us and one rule for the other and no support for the younger smokers who want to quit !!!!

i've tried taking asprin if i thought i was going to be in trouble, and that helped a little. and it hurt a lot worse one time when my butt was wet, so making sure its dry helps. i bet other people know some other tricks though, help me!
