I am in connecticut on vacation. I live in california and I know I need a root canal but it is going to cost a lot to fix it, plus xray costs and all. Is there something over the counter I can put on the tooth or gums to stop the pain? I have motrin 800 that I keep on using, but I won't be able to see my dentist til I get back, which is not until July 11th. Your help will be appreciated.

if orajel doesn't work try clove oil I swear by it. It stops the pain it taste like crap for about 2 minutes but it doesn't hurt after that. Just try it it. When my tooth was hurting I tried orajel it worked at first but it didn't stop the pain then I tried clove oil and within 5 mins the pain was absolutely gone no numbing feeling either like orajel. You can get it at the pharmacist.
