I'm going to my local council on Monday and I'm really nervous, my voice will be all shaky and I'll more than likely get lost, does anyone have any tips to stay like calmer?
p.s I know it's not a big deal to most adults, but I am really anxious about it.. if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it!

Firstly, well done for sorting out an interesting work experience. They will expect you to be nervous and get lost ( I think most adults get nervous about this sort of thing too) so they will be nice to you. The thing I do is say to myself, "What's the worst that could happen?" When I realise that it is nothing terrible, I start to feel better. Good luck and have fun.

Look you do not represent a danger to anybody's job so ask questions appear interested most people will talk about their job for ever, after all it is what brings the food in, Hopefully you will be given a few simple tasks to do, be conscientious. Remember it's only a very few people who have a job which does not bore and frustrate them from time to time so you may yourself being used as a sounding board.
If it is like my old firm the person to whom you are allocated quite possibly does not know about you until you arrive so he/she may be caught a little off balance. It is expected that you will not remember names and get lost, the purpose of the introductions is so that people will remember who and what you are you are. Enjoy yourself next time you work it will be in earnest but the same thing applies to all newcomers. A new job is one of the most nerve racking things you go through even adults find it difficult no matter how much experience they have. Best wishes

Just remember that we all sit on the toilet - the people you meet might seem 'important' but when you remind yourself that they have the same bodily functions as the rest of us they don't seem so important after all.
And it's good to bear in mind that most of them aren't used to dealing with people on work placements and they'll be just as nervous as you - probably more. It is a big deal for most adults - they just learn no to admit it!
And (another and!) - it is good to be a little shy and nervous because you'll be well looked after. Nobody wants an arrogant, super confident person in the workplace.

Don't panic! I used to be just the same, I would get so nervous that my head would feel like its filling up with blood and that would make me get lost and forget peoples names and faces. You need to take a big breath and remember that most people are pretty decent, if you get lost - don't be afraid to ask.
This may not help you now but remember that it will get easier in the future - I'm 29 now and never get nervous about such things now (......or hardly ever anyway)
good luck :)

I'd say just feel strong and look straight at the people and don't wobble on about something get straight to the point, take deep breaths. PS you'll do fine
