I live on a busy main road and work night shift so i sleep with earplugs everyday, until i've saved enough money for a double glazed window.
Anyway the wax must be getting pushed deeper into the ear, has anyone slept with plugs frequently for a long period of time and any harmful side effects?

I have had bothersome pain in my right calf, feels like an electric shock kind of pain. I have also been having back pain but MRI shows OK. The back has been better, but not the leg. I also had mormal MRI of the leg. Could this still be sciatica and not show up in back MRI??

A long time ago, I lost faith that doctors are generally competent, or care about their patients. For example, you may have to wait a week to get an appointment, and then, when you FINALLY get "an audience with the king", he gives you some superficial, cursory "examination", and he just mouths some platitudes about getting rest or some such thing.

Right now, I may or may not have a meniscus problem in my knee. I may or may not have a problem with my ACL. Either I should walk unless it hurts, walk only short distances, or lay in my apartment for three weeks without stepping outside. I'm not sure. That is the recommendation of three different doctors.

Why does it seem like doctors don't really have a grasp of human anatomy? When they can pinpoint the exact point where something hurts, and they can feel the soft tissue around the area, it should be self-evident. Even my massage therapist had a different answer.

Are doctors just ambivalent?

I purchased a peice of exercise equipment ten days ago, the manufacturer offered a three year parts and labour warranty on the item. After thee days it developed a minor fault which was recitified with raplacement parts, which I fitted.
On the same day I recieved the replacement parts, another fault occured whilst using it and I sustained an injury. The question is, what should I do next?

It is so painful. No throat closing, just this IMMEDIATE pain generating from back of throat, sides of tongue to eventually roof of mouth and entire tongue and throat. NOT like a sore throat from a cold- these are MOUTH CRAMPS? Has anyone had this or does anyone have any remedies to help? Tylenol does NOTHING. I'm only on Prednisone at this point- no nausea, etc. Just this excruciatingly painful mouth stuff. Help!

Last night I cut my thumb on a broken dinner plate while trying to wash it. It took a small chunk out of my thumb. Just by looking at it, I don't think it could be stitched up, mainly because it's not a narrow cut or a gash. I apply peroxide as well as a clean bandage to it with neosporin two to three times a day. I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it would take to fully heal, as well as some other things I can do to make it heal quicker, if possible.

I would Love to hear from anyone who has had this surgery. I also had surgery for cubital tunnel which is at the elbows. I had the surgery 2 years ago and after the very long painful healing process felt some relief only in the way that I could lift items that were normally to heavy for me. (Such as a gallon of milk!) Up untill 4 months ago I dealt with alot of anger and dissapointment that the surgery was such a failure. 4 months ago I had to quit my parttime job as the constant pain, tightness and inflammation was unbearable. I wear my splints to bed every night and am physically limited. I feel so deceived by the promise that this surgery would free me from my dibilitating "Carpal Tunnel Syndrome" Since I have not been working I atleast am not dealing with the relentless "Flair Up's" Looking forward to hearing from those on there outcome....laceyemerill

What is the most appropriate way to brace for an impact with, either in a car or a plane or just falling down, do you grab onto something bolted down on a plane or car, or would that possibly cause your arms to flail about incorrectly? and i don't know how one should take a free fall to minimize damage.

Well, the other night I heard the phone ringing and hurdled over the baby gate in my hallway. Needless to say, I split my pinky toe on my left foot, but then the next day back behind my right knee, it hurts to put it completely straight. Also, if I squat down to like look at a lower shelf or like play with baby, the pain is so intense and painful, that I just drop to the floor as my knee can't handle it. I have had plenty of pulled muscles in my day, but this does not seem like a pulled muscle as I can deal with those (I pulled a muscle in my back once and actually had to be put on Vicadin for about a week, let's just say I could not move my arms..) Anyway, this is not as severe, but it is nothing like I have had before. It has only been 2 days, and it has slight improvment, but I was maybe thinking a pinched nerve??? Icy hot and stuff is not helping the squat thing, as with a 17 mo. old, that is hard. no health insurance til aug. either!! Is fine when I walk, but stairs man, ouch

Anyone found a cure for painful ears when on a plane, please? 14 yr old and cries with the pain every year we go on holiday. Doc just tells her to suck a boiled sweet. Doesn't work. Nothing else wrong with ears, and she's not a kid who easily cries, so the pain must be really bad. Thanks

Our family physician just gave my husband splints and told him to take some aleve for his hand problems. His hands and fingers hurt, more so at night, and nothing seems to be helping. We are just trying to figure out what it could be before we see a specialist. What are the major differences between tendonitis and carpal tunnel? Any info. would be helpful!!!
