Last night I cut my thumb on a broken dinner plate while trying to wash it. It took a small chunk out of my thumb. Just by looking at it, I don't think it could be stitched up, mainly because it's not a narrow cut or a gash. I apply peroxide as well as a clean bandage to it with neosporin two to three times a day. I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it would take to fully heal, as well as some other things I can do to make it heal quicker, if possible.

Quit using the peroxide now [ it is ok for initial treatment if cut was 'dirty' but now will slow down healing ].
Keep it clean, dry, and apply the ointment and new dry bandage several time a day. When cut is 'dry' [ no loner oozing any blood or fluid ] do ointment two more days, then just use bandaid until it isn't sore.
Call doc if area gets red, starts hurting more, or starts oozing green/yellow/white gunk.

Congratulations! The peroxide was an excellent idea and will hep with the healing. I would give it a good week to heal and then a few days for the scab to fall off, meanwhile try and keep it dry. I took a chunk out of my arm while pruning, mistook my arm for a twig? Anyway the ER was 20 min by car and like you I doubt they could stitch it. Therefore like you I applied peroxide and then a few 'steri strips' held the lump in place. Had to hold my arm aloft for over one hour, but week later all was fine, except I have a small scar.

Zinc, vitamin C and E promote faster wound healing, taken orally. Try to find a supplement that contains at least 2 of these and take it for at least 2 weeks for the wound to fully heal.
