What is the most appropriate way to brace for an impact with, either in a car or a plane or just falling down, do you grab onto something bolted down on a plane or car, or would that possibly cause your arms to flail about incorrectly? and i don't know how one should take a free fall to minimize damage.

Actually bracing for an impact usually hurts you more. For example..check out drunk drivers. They are relaxed on impact and rarely get hurt, its the people that they hit...that tense up, that get the injuries. Hope that helps.

Umm I do not think you will be able to brace for a impact.
You are going to drive a car bracing for a impact that might never happen? In most impacts, you have no control. I have fallen down the stairs three times and it was not until I landed did I have any control. When a accident occurs it happens so fast you do not have time to think, let alone brace yourself. I can recall driving behind a lorry when a large chunk of metal, a girder fell off! Automatic reaction swerve to the hard shoulder, while my Mother 'ducked?' I am not sure why she ducked, in the car, but that was her reaction. The car following me got it through the wind screen! OUCH!
