I have had bothersome pain in my right calf, feels like an electric shock kind of pain. I have also been having back pain but MRI shows OK. The back has been better, but not the leg. I also had mormal MRI of the leg. Could this still be sciatica and not show up in back MRI??

The absolute exact thing has happened to me. When mine started, nothing showed up on an MRI either. Ultimately it was discovered that I had a disc (L4/L5) herniate into my sciatic nerve. By the time it showed up on an MRI, I had to
go immediately to a Neurosurgeon and when they got to the disc, it was so large that it exploded. It had been sitting on my sciatic nerve the whole time and now I have permanent nerve damage. I suggest that you go directly to a Neurosurgeon, they have a whole different outlook on these injuries and treat them much sooner than an orthopedist does. Letting the Orthopedist be passive about my injury has cost me a huge change to my future.
Nerve pain in your leg without any current back pain is a sure sign of at least sciatica, but maybe damaged nerve.
Good Luck, I know it hurts. :(

Yes, it's possible that this could still be sciatica or some other nerve problem. The only way to find out for sure is to have this evaluated by your dr which you have done based on the MRI so I would recommend considering consulting a neurologist to see what they think about this situation or even trying a Pain Management dr to get their input on the situation.

Possibly. I have a ruptured disk, as well as a herniated disk and when I first injured my back, I used to get these horrible "electric" type shocks shooting down through my butts all the way into my foot and my foot would go numb. I too had an MRI and the ruptured/herniated disks showed up, but not the sciatica. The sciatica is a result of your back problem.

sounds to me like either low potasium possibly not enough water intake dehydration or possible restless leg syndrome. The last has many different ways it comeson and I know someone who described the same feeling and was diagnoised withRLS.
