General Health Care - June 2006

I am a 61 year old man who was in a car accident 13 years ago and have a broken back (T-4) with rods, pins and wires that are irriating, sleep apnea, arthritis, sciatica, pressure sores starting on my buttocks, severe insomnia and nerve damage causing other pains. My body does not work well with most pain meds, mainly narcartics, in fact the patch makes me ill so it does not help. I am getting frustrated and depressed with all this going on. Please, someone, let me know soon.

Unlike nguy4064, the acid taste lasts all day long and it's been more than a week by now. In the past, it has happened, don't know why or how, then went away by itself. I have taken tums but the bitter taste is still there.

Got a bad cut on my finger Sunday, bled more than I ever have, not enough to warrant a transfusion I don't think but I was feeling faint that day and had to lie down after I got my finger bandaged up. Is there a way to "speed up" the blood-making process or does that happen automatically after you get a wound? This is probably a pretty clueless medical question but that kinda stuff has always turned my stomach so I honestly don't know. Also, are there any certain things I can eat or drink that will help speed healing and get more iron back in my blood and all that stuff...?

ok...so last friday i had arthoscopic surgery done on my shoulder...surgery hasn't been painful...have only taken 3 days of pain meds...BUT what's killing me is the bandage....the staples are itching...the tape on the huge bandage is pulling my skin...making me really uncomfy...doc told me when i left the hospital to leave it on til i see him and keep it dry....don't see him til tuesday....this is going to kill me til then....any suggestions?

i've had a perforated eardrum since I was 5 and up to know i could hardly hear on my affected ear.now, my other eardrum is ruptured.In the middle of my medication, the doctor said that the once pinpoint hole has gone bigger. why is this so?

I have had the same prescription since high school. I would like to upgrade my glasses to newer frames. Everytime I go to LensCrafters to change my lenses/frames, they say I would need to get a check up every 2 years or I cannot purchase new frames/lenses. In LensCrafters computer system, they have a record of my prescription. Why do I still need to get a doctor's appointment to obtain the same prescription to purchase new lense/frames? Any ideas????

I think I twisted my ankle yesterday, not really sure how . It was a little swollen last night but wasn't too bad this morning so I went ahead and went to work. Now it is extremely swollen, but not bruising or discolored. And it hurts to walk on it. I know I need to stay off of it but should I go to the hospital and have it looked at too?

I woke up this morning with a weird feeling in my head and I was seeing these crazy black blotches in front of my eyes. Now this has turned into a dizzy type headache and my neck hurts and is stiff also. My head feels full like its gonna blow up and my jaws hurt and behind my eyes hurt and behind my nose too. I know this is crazy huh? But my friend said its a type of migraine and my cousin and mom think its a sinus infection??!?!?
