My Mother has 25% function in one kidney, the other is gone. She is not on dialysis at this time and controlling herself by diet and fluid intake. As one of her family members, when are we allowed to get tested for possible kidney transplant for her and when could she be eligible for being on the transplant list. Her nephrologist says she has to be in total kidney failure to even be consider this an option. Is this true?

My doctor just put me on 40 mg of Lasix a day. I feel much better. I am diabetic. However, it seems my edema problems started after the Rita evacuation. I was behind the wheel for 14 hours and then I had to spend 30 days in Houston working out of St. Joseph's Hospital downtown. I had to fight bumper to bumper traffic going into downtown and out of downtown. Could all this have added to the fluid buildup in my lower extremities?

So my best friend says when she pees it kinda stings and she feels bloated and it is cloudy in colour and has a strong kind of ammonia like smell? What would this be?
She says when she drinks a lot of water it goes away and if she has cranberry juice also. It only comes along every so often and kinda makes her want to pee lots
Has anyone had this before if so what is it? and what causes it?
It kinda hurts her lower stomach sometimes and makes her feel like ****!

I just got over a long 10-day illness of severe tonsillitis with probable strep, with fever, fatigue, muscle aches, vomiting, diarrhea. I received vicodin for pain and solu-medrol, a steroid, because of the enormous swelling of my tonsills. Now, I seem to have a depression I just cannot shake. I take antidepressants and felt fine before this illness, but now a depression seems to have taken hold of me. Anyone have any advice on this?

I have heard that we get colds more often in the winter because people are inside more than they are in the summer. Does this apply in the south too? I would assume that people in Florida are inside MORE during the summer months, due to the temperatures. Maybe their illness season is in the summer.

(I'm sure it's not - but really, what is the reason?)

For the past 3 months I have had a burning sensation and an itchy stomach. I get a bloated feeling sometimes after eating also. I have never had dairrhea during this time. I do get some pains in the abdomin near my appendix. I have had a full work up, every test imaginable. I was wondering if celiac causes a burning sensation that goes up into the chest. Please help.

Okay, let me tell you. I left my window open on 3/8/07, and got sick on 3/9/07 and currently still sick. My headache is still here. When I try to poo, my head hurts. I tried to sleep but ending up laying on the bed for 2 hours. Because when I was trying to sleep, there is some minor breathing problems. I just ate tylenol 20 minutes ago and still sick, Can anyone give me the solution and future solutions? Just wondering, can leaving the window open at night while you sleep can cause you to be sick? how?

I had my gallbladder surgically removed 4 years ago due to gallstones. Before, whenever I had a meal, there would be pain around the gallbladder/liver area.

Now, 4 years after the surgery, the pain is still there. In fact, at times, the pain is even worse than before. While I am having a meal, only a few minutes after my first few bites, the pain in the gallbladder/liver area starts again. Then after the meal, the pain slowly goes away, which can sometimes be hours.

I don't understand - even after I have taken out my gallbladder, why is the pain still there? Also, why does the pain immediately starts after I have begun eating - in only 10 minutes or so, the pain starts?

Sometimes there is a real tightness in my chest/heart area. I hear a "popping" noise. I can barely move or talk or breathe normally. It lasts for a couple minutes. This happened to me a few times before. It sounds like heart attack symptoms, but my mom and grandma say, oh its just nothing your probably just imagining things, or something like that, but im no. Could it be a heart attack? Or a broken rib? I dont know what. My mom also thought it was heart burn but its not, i get heartburn all the time and thats in my esophagus.

My 8 year old daughter got a terribly headache yesterday while in school. When she got home she described the pain as being on the very top of her head. It worsened through the night and she eventually laid for hours with an ice pack on her head. During the night she spiked a fever of 102 but that has now gone away as did her headache.

She has never had a headache before and I found it strange. Should I be worried? Is this unusual?
