First of all, congratulations on stopping your cutting. It is a very unhealthy way to deal with your emotions, and does not address the root cause of the problem.
As I understand it, being emo means being very emotional and expressing feelings like despair, sadness, confusion etc. in an open way. In this case, being emo is not "bad", but honestly you will not get far in life if you do not find a way to move past it. Only you can discover what is the best way for you to deal with your difficult emotions, without suppressing them or taking it out on your body. I wish you the best of luck, my dear.

No, being emo is not a bad thing. People just fear what's new, and sometimes see through "emo" people and that a lof of them are trendy. Why would a whole group of people be automatically bad?
Anyway, I'm sorry you cut yourself. I hope you can stop and find other ways to deal with your pain. I suffer from depression as well so I know how difficult it is.
if you're friends say you're emo that's not nice or supportive of them. they should be helping you not labelling you

BEING EMO IS NOT A BAD THING. people throw around labels so ridiculously and it's horrible. People are people. If a person is emo it doesn't mean they're a bad person. If a person cuts themself it doesn't automatically mean they're emo. everyone's different. To put a blanket term on everyone is ignorant and shallow. If your friends say that about you then they're not very good friends. They should see you as a person who maybe had some trouble-NOT a label.

You are like the alcoholic that drinks a bottle of liquor every day. Then he says I am not an alcoholic. One of the first signs of any problems is denial. No one likes to think that they have a problem.
