Classically a sore red sticky eye. Bathing with previously boiled and then cooled water will settle most conjunctivitis, without the need for antibiotics. If the problem persists however see your GP.

Conjunctivitis, also known as pinkeye, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the thin, clear tissue that lies over the white part of the eye and lines the inside of the eyelid.
What Causes Conjunctivitis?
Conjunctivitis has a number of different causes, including:
Viruses
Bacteria (such as gonorrhea or chlamydia)
Irritants such as shampoos, dirt, smoke, and pool chlorine
Allergies, like dust, pollen, or a special type of allergy that affects some contact lens wearers
Conjunctivitis caused by some bacteria and viruses can spread easily from person to person, but are not a serious health risk if diagnosed promptly.
What Are the Symptoms of Conjunctivitis?
The symptoms of conjunctivitis differ based on the cause of the inflammation, but may include:
Redness in the white of the eye or inner eyelid.
Increased amount of tears.
Thick yellow discharge that crusts over the eyelashes, especially after sleep.
Green or white discharge from the eye.
Itchy eyes.
Burning eyes.
Blurred vision.
Increased sensitivity to light.
See your eye doctor if you have any of these symptoms of conjunctivitis. He or she will conduct an exam of your eyes and may take a sample of fluid from the eyelid using a cotton swab to be analyzed in a microbiology lab. Bacteria or viruses that may have caused conjunctivitis, including a sexually transmitted disease or STD, can then be identified and proper treatment prescribed.

The conjunctiva of the eye is the tissue that surrounds the eye bowl, conjunctivitis is simply inflammation of this tissue. it sounds like that what you're getting and it could be caused by a number of things, infection, dry eye.
Try some lubricating drops today, bath away discharge then see your doctor or ophthalmologist if it continues. Take no risks with your eyes as they are important.
If you're a contact lens wearer, remove your lenses rinse them (disinfect them) and then wear your glasses for a few days to see if that helps. You could have scratched the surface of the eye and that can cause redness and soreness. It could also be caused by staring at a computer screen, so try reducing your time spent typing

All of the above, but remember, if you have this, you need to change your mascara. In fact you should change it every 3 months as it can harbour germs that give you this condition. Replace your eye makeup, including eye pencils and shadow.
Don't use the new stuff until all clear.
Bath eye with water and cotton pad and throw away and then get new pad for other eye. Go to chemist, they can give you an over the counter product that should help.
You might just be allergic to your make up.
If you don't wear makeup, then see a doctor for some drops to clear it up and wash pillow case every other day an turn it over in between.

Hi!
Whenever I've had conjunctivitis my eyes have been weeping yellow stuff (eeeww - not nice).
Also, sometimes I've not been able to open the infected eye very well.
You can either go to your doctor, or go to a Pharmacy and they'll be able to give you something to relieve your symptoms.
Hope you're better soon!!

You would most certainly have an itchy eye. The whites of your eyes would be red, and it would feel scratchy and uncomfortable.
You can get optrex infected eyes from the chemist to treat it.
