Because the Earth rotates a full 360 degrees on it's axis every 24 hours.
But even more importantly, the Earth is not only spinning on it's own axis but it is orbiting right around the sun too, which causes us to have winter, fall, summer and spring.
I sometimes feel quite dizzy thinking about all the spinning we are doing right at this very moment.

Well yes-at night we are the farthest away from the Sun-the light giver but closer to the moon and depending on the size of the moon(Darkness, Night) depends how much light reflected from it down to earth then towards the AM earth again nearer to the sun and its Light Giving Rays.

the sun never really goes down...since the sun spins at a certain degree when the earth spins away from the sun it looks like the sun is going down because the earth is turning its "back" to sun at that certain part of the world.

It has to do with the rotation of the earth axis to the sun. please remember the planet earth does rotate. The earth orbit is measured at 878,000 mph.
Give or take a little. The dark side of the moon can reach -200 deg.
