I am in nursing school and sometimes when I am going to watch a procedure or do an invasive skill I start to feel faint and need to sit down. This is very embarassing for me as it always happens in front of my instructors and my patients. I am worried that if this doesn't stop I won't make a very good nurse when I graduate! Does anyone have any pointers to prevent this from happening? I am going to watch a heavy surgery in a few days and would like to get through it without feeling weak!

my son had swelling on his right side approximately where his appindix is located. It was painful so he went to the ER.The Dr.told him it was an enlarged lymph node,to take ibuprofin, hot packs, and return if not better. The swelling has now expanded upwards toward his hip, about half the size of a tennis ball.He has no insurance and our ER sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.I am trying to find out some information and if there is anything that can we can do to releive this problem.
Thank you,
Geri

My 5 yr. old son is having a terrible time. He has just now come to the point of screaming and tears. He is afraid. Last week after a b/m there was a trickle of blood. I, of course, took him to the Dr. were they said that he must have gotten a small laceration within his bowels, and if the bleeding didn't subside in a few days, we would be referred to a specialist. The bleeding did stop, but now he is afraid. He has been eating plenty of grapes, raisins, plums and other fruit and drinking water. Does anyone know of any other household remedy that may help him?

I've felt this for a good three years now off and on, mostly when i'm really stressed. But lately it happens all the time and I'm not under any stress at all! It's hard to describe. It's like for a split second I feel a little jump in the center of my chest and I don't take in any air. Then afterward I feel my heart beat really really fast for about a second or two, and I have to take a deep breath. For the last 2 days it's happened a lot, and today it seems to be every fifteen minutes! And it's lasting more than a second, like two or three seconds and it hurts. Is this my heart skipping a beat? Does anyone else feel this? I tell my shuband all the time "geeze, it feels like my heart skips a beat" then I explain it and ask him if it ever happens to him. he says no and moves on...so I guess it's no big deal, or is it?

My son has had Bell's Palsy twice in 2 1/2 years and as a mother, this is starting to freak me out. I love to make him laugh and its now heartbreaking cuz he covers his face so I can't see. I have him try to move certain parts of the left side of his face and noticed it got worse overnight. How could he get it so fast again? I was told that it could be caused by the herpes virus 1 and that is really freaking me out cuz how could he get something like that? He was 6 years old the first time he got it and he does not let anyone kiss him, hugs only. I feel so bad and freaked all at the same time. I wish I could do something for him. I did take him to the doctor and just got prescriptions for him. I just want to find the underlying problem and fix that so he doesn't go thru life having this. Any suggestions?

I have a pituitary gland tumor that causes me to lactate as if I were breastfeeding. I have taken Dostinex for this, but now I'm without health insurance and cannot afford the $186 generic prescription for 8 pills (cabergoline). Are there alternate treatments for this condition?

I never understood why I never got sick twice from the same virus. I am sure that remnants of it (and this goes for all of you too) probably landed in obvious locations while we were sick; ie the doorknob, bed covers and pillow, kitchen utensils, compute mouse and so on.

So what I'd like to know is after I am well and healed how come when I touch those supposedly infected locations and touch my lip or eyes that I don't get sick again?

Also what about the stomach flu? Can I get sick from the same strain again?

Thanks to all that try to answer this one!

I have been smoking for 17 years since teenager. This is the first time ive tried this. Although I'm happy Im doing something positive, I'm struggling. Its now 6.00pm on Wednesday in London. My last cig was Monday lunchtime.

I am now starting to feel a bit odd. I sort of feel a bit detached from reality and unable to concentrate on anything. I also have a slight cough now. Is all this normal? how long will it last?
